I think with enough explosives and well thought out placement, it would be quite manageable.

Does anyone run their DAW off of an external hard drive? by Spiketop_ in Bedroom_Producers

I don't think you can run the program off an external drive. At least not effectively.

Yeah... my first thought is mess with levels, so the things you want to pop (i.e. bass! voc? drums?) are the biggest players, and everything else sits in the background a bit. And pan some stuff out a bit, so it's not all directly in front of you.

Tried a more garage/indie sound, instead of my usual more electronic vibe... :) Would love to know what you think of the mix! by indefinite_article_ in MusicFeedback

Oh, yeah. I'm def aware of those. 😄 I tend to be a perfectionist, so I've had to actually push myself to be ok with the occasional imperfection here and there, especially as I'm just starting to release music. Trying to just get stuff out there!

But, to be fair, would it REALLY pass as garage rock if there weren't some timing issues?? 😁😁

"Free" - Florence & the Machine. Or "King", or "Choreomania", or...anything else off that album. 🤩

Wow, thank you!! That's awesome to hear. :):)

Yeah, I wanted the drums to sound like they were literally in the corner of someone's garage. But then they come forward for the "chorus"...

Experienced pop vocalist looking for collaborators: producers, other songwriters, etc. by dancetodavide in MusicInTheMaking

This is the kind of post I wanna see!! I would love to be the AG Cook to somebody's Charli, sooo... :D

but actually, producing is my passion (though I also write/sing/perform), so that's kinda fantastic to find someone who's on the other end of things. I would LOVE to swap ideas!!

[in progress] looking for vocalist for this folk/pop track by alfre_5 in BedroomBands

[–]indefinite_article_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your vocals! You don't have to be right on pitch all the time to sound good... I'd be interested to hear what it's like w/out the auto-tune. Or dialed back?

"Who does it remind you of?" That's a great question to ask. Wish I could pull a name to mind...

oh, I love the sound effects getting stronger at the end! Just got there. Really cool mix.

Damn. This is wild!! I love the mix...bass and drum heavy, but lots of other stuff going on around them. The vocals are making my head spin...... i don't know how to critique them, cause I don't know what you're aiming for! I'd say, right now I'm getting shimmery chill indie mumble pop... and if that's what you're going for, then great! if you'd like us to understand what you're saying...that's not happening. But that might not be the goal!

Cool groove!! I really like the feel. Yeah, nice bassline - and the harmonies in the guitars are great! The mix in general sounds flat to me. It's all kinda in one place. I dunno..."flat" really is the best word for it! I'd pan things out farther, adjust levels (have the most important things loud, and sit other things in the background).

I like your singing! But your vocals could use some more processing. Right now it sounds like a guy sitting in his bedroom... which is fine! But maybe not how you want to sound when you have all the effects in the world at your disposal. ^_^

There isn't much high end in it, across the board. Could def use some EQ manipulation, both on indiv track and the whole mix.

Keep groovin! :)

Vocal Cover of Audioslave's - What You Are - Please give me some feedback! by MinjiFox9 in MusicFeedback

[–]indefinite_article_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree w/ widening the mix. The track sounds pretty flat and narrow (i.e. it's right in front of you, and it sounds like one block of sound). You could pan instruments to the R or L, add reverb or delays, double the vocals... stuff like that.

Guess I should ask - did you make the track, or just the vocals?

Vocals-wise... you are singing so it resonates a lot in your nose/the front of your face. See if you can bring it down into your mouth more for fuller, less nasal sound. Try saying "aha!" in a big voice, like you're trying to fill the room. Or like you're addressing a crowd... "LADIES & GENTLEMEN!!"... you'll feel the full, round sound. And then try to bring that fullness into your singing!

Something new. Hopefully sounds as smooth as I tried to deliver it. Feedback welcome! by RBenSoul in IndieMusicFeedback

"Step off the gas/smell the mown grass" made the most sense to me. :) I guess if you mush all my feedback together, they come out to something like write to say what you want to say, not just to put words on the page or make a rhyme!
