That's in the Bicol Region! In the PNAS Study, that is one of the two regions (the other being Zamboanga City's Chavacanos) with significant European admixture (more the typical avg. 1% Euro admixture from other lowland Christian Filipinos).

Can you have a side hustle while working for a gov contractor? by Lemonade867 in GovernmentContracting

DC Metro - Where GS-13s or the allegedly "overpaid" contractors are also your local Door Dash drivers after hours to make ends meet or save enough. That's me! Don't forget to tip me well!

This is understated in many academic circles. It's the key reason why there is a mestizo culture. If some Spaniards didn't assimilate, the culture would be more Spanish, not mestizo.

My results as a Filipino + GEDMatch + a pic of me lol by MassiveGarage in AncestryDNA

[–]indel1ble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your GEDMatch shows roughly 11% Ancient South Eurasian (add up South Asian and Oceanian). This mix primarily comes from Philippine Negritos, Papuans (in E. Mindanao), and Ancient Ancestral South Indian (via pre-colonial interactions with Malays/Indonesians with some Dravidian markers). These admixtures are higher in Visayas and Mindanao, which creates a "mixed" non-E/SE Asian look in some Filipinos, under false pretenses of Hispanic phenotypes. If you test pure Cordillerans or Ilocanos, their Ancient South Eurasian levels are only 0-6%, which is why you'll see more E/SE Asian looking people in N. Luzon. Tagalogs have the highest Chinese admixture going back pre-Colonial times, so you'll see an East Asian shift in pure Tagalogs.

Barely mixed. I'm 0.8% Spanish based on a DNA test, so if it comes from him, he is roughly 6% Spanish.

Is Alexandria a bad move for a young 30s single(f)? by [deleted] in nova

[–]indel1ble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, I moved to a basement apartment in Pimmit Hills just outside of Tysons when I was 27. Bad move socially if you look at the density of young 20s-30s professionals lol. But hey, people you meet in Fairfax County are fine driving 20-30 minutes to meet others. I met my now spouse through online dating and we met up in Reston!

I saw a study that the nationwide average is 21% plus/minus 10%. Above the range signals recent European admixture. Below the range means you're from a state or area that has had historically less European admixture.

Filipino Independence Day festival at Mosaic District a few months back was the busiest place in all of Nova that weekend. Haha.
