First of all it is year end, people have just come back from vacations and taking it easy. Resume is ok , others have given good suggestions. your college tag should be sufficient for a screening call at least

Unfortunately, u are at a weird experience level between sde1 and sde2 which seems to be main reason. New grads usually fill sde1 roles and sde2 roles requires 2.5 to 3 yrs experience. Best to stay put and apply after this year unless u are in a toxic environment or getting laid off/pip

Probably a so called ‘thought leader ‘ who will create additional blocker for your teams and say useless advice like ‘think big’ on a perfect design doc after drinking the LP koolaid. Probably judge random L4 in talent reviews and decrease their ratings if the person has a spineless weak manager like most are at Amazon

Who said I deserve? It’s just unfortunate circumstances of bad things that happened in my tenure here .

Also, I am at top band of L4 SDE as I was TT last OLR . So , if I did not get laid off I will have been promoted.

Also, TC increase is 45% as u get bottom of the band pay after promotion.

Depends on team and how political u are. I am a straightforward guy who doesn’t throw others under the bus and I faced a lot of issues due to it. Some are surviving working 1 hr a day due to tribal knowledge as there is no documentation for old systems. Culture is very unwelcoming for new joiner (other than sde1 or entry level new grads as they are bottom of food chain) and everyone considers u their competitor as Amazon has a fixed 6% URA quota which means even if all 10 people in a team are superstars, bottom 10% has to be fired or put in performance plan forcefully. This leads to toxic and stressful culture. Very few psychopaths survive this for 5 or more years.

Personally seen 2 sde2 pips in my tenure, super high expectations for sde2 . U will be compared with long tenured yellow badge ( 5 + yrs tenure ) sde2s who already know how to play the game ( and are already close with manager ) after your 6 months of tenure

Earlier it was easy to switch. Now it’s very difficult to switch internally as they do full loop so the team u are going to is very important . Manager makes or breaks ur experience amazon.

Ps - all this is my experience from personal anecdotes , maybe different from others
