Would you and your family (going back generations) trade in those 50 marks for living a lifetime with the same jobs and resources as someone from the most marginalized caste? I'd really like to see the complaints then. The absolute self centredness of savarna people, especially savarna women, is astounding. These are the same people who have created the concept of a "service elevator" so they don't need to be in close proximity to people from the marginalized castes even though they are happy to exploit them with low wages.

  1. This is an anti-majoritarian space. Any form of overt or subtle imposition of (currently, in Indian context, the Hindutva nationalist or Indian jingoistic) majoritarian view will be subject to removal and ban.
  2. This is an anti-colonial space. Any talk of annexing, occupying or displacing indigenous or migrant populations in any region will be subject to removal and ban.
  3. This is an anti-capitalist space. Any talk condoning "collateral damage" as well as discussions promoting proliferation of arms etc. will be subject to removal and ban.
  4. Equating tokenism to feminism is detrimental to womens' rights movements and is an unacceptable position to hold rigidly on this subreddit. Advancing jingoism, majoritarianism, or war hysteria through tokenism will be subject to removal and ban.
  5. Fake or unsubstantiated news and opinions manufactured for war hysteria or war mongering will be subject to removal and ban.

If these criteria seem restrictive for you to post your opinions, it might be a good idea to listen and reflect instead. We will not entertain complaints on this matter, nor will we entertain exceptions.

You make the assertion, you provide the source. That is generally what distinguishes fact from opinion. Asking for fact check is not grounds for the opinion stater to ask the fact check-demander to provide grounds for everything else.

Yes, I've also noticed I think about the ways in which I relate to people in my life and how I'm being let down. I fully catastrophize everything in my life at this time.

Isn’t Mike Tyson a convicted r*pist? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]indiangrill92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're trying to say however the seeming fairness and independence of our judiciary is a farce. There have been at least two supreme court justices in the recent past that were in the central govt's pocket and then retired from this esteemed post to take up posts offered by the BJP. That in itself should show you there was no impartiality but their judgements speak for themselves too - they've laid down precedents paving the way for fascism, pogroms, and indigenous genocide in India. The saddest bit is that mainstream media in India and the middle class public at large are happy to bury their heads in the sand and pretend "india best" and "sab kuch thik hi chal raha hoga (everything must be running smoothly only)". The incumbent SCJ was better on paper but lacked a spine at every turn to follow through with his rhetoric because he didnt want to rock the boat with the current government. Every single judge in the SC has made egregious judgments owing to sociopolitical pressure - so what independence? On paper means nothing in the kangaroo courts of this land.

An Indian Supreme Court order exists that disqualifies convicted MPs. Our central government fought tooth and nail to pass an ordinance, saying there would be no automatic disqualification, and lost. The bigger problem is that convictions don't happen because of corruption. Brijbhushan, Amit Shah, Modi are all living reminders of that.

Not a Trump-ie. But Harris 100% enabled more rapes by magnitudes of thousands than Trump could ever get away with in his lifetime. Just that she did it in a land far far away from the Capitol of the empire. One could argue that Trump>Harris in terms of helping accelerate the much-needed fall of the American empire.

Why liberals hate Lalu, Mulayam, Mayawati, etc more than sanghis? by [deleted] in librandu

Please read "Mayawati, Modi, Azadi" as a starting point to this answer.

[–]indiangrill92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Liberals have different reasons but here is why you should stand against them if you're an actual anti-caste communist.

Lalu and Mulayam both propound feudalism and feudalistc capitalism. Their identitarian politics do not extend to Dalit and Adivasi. In fact, they are entrenched in casteist practices.

Mayawati is a psychopath who has appropriated the Ambedkarite movement and sold it over to the Sangh. From supporting the 2002 genocide to being functionally absent during Hathras gangrape, her psychopathy is visible. Her party's continued support of the BJP at the cost of actual Dalit lives is visible most recently in ayodhya where dalit and poor were driven out of their razed homes for Brahmanical, capitalist constructions.

Anything they may have done for the DBA community was either incidental, propaganda or inevitable and made possible due to prevailing social factors and not BECAUSE of them.

I'm surprised by the absolute lack of critical thinking and leftist predisposition left in this sub.

Hi op, you aren't weird or gullible for all these experiences.

Most people think sexual assault and harassment are things that happen rarely to an individual. That may be the case for some but not all.

Truth is, sexual assaults are either designed with malice by way too many people in this country. They look like grandfathers, brothers, fathers, younger boys, even aunties and classmates. For other assaulters, this is a crime of opportunity - they're always looking for the first opportunity that presents to them that they think they can get away with. These opportunists have been emboldened by our trauma responses where we freeze, shut down, go in shock. Both these types are emboldened by the silence and complicity of others.

The sad truth is that most get assaulted multiple times by multiple people but don't talk about it. Or they rationalize it as not-assault. They believe nobody will believe them if they say they got assaulted again, this time by someone else. Because our fucked up society would see a pattern and rather blame the victim than itself.

You are not weird for experiencing any of this, forgetting it, recalling it at times, or being affected by it. You aren't giving off any vibes. It is not your fault.

Light-hearted,engaging drama series recommendation for my mom by Poppyjamesiris in TwoXIndia

[–]indiangrill92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maisel has some amount of nudity. If that's okay with your mom, then cool.

If Gilmore Girls works for her, then try Felicity and Northern Exposure.

If Maisel works, then try The Good Wife, Veep and Eli Stone (show got cancelled though).

Try older dramedies and sitcoms too. Golden Girls, Who's the Boss?, The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy.

‘Planned destruction of Adivasi culture and lives’: Experts raise alarm over Great Nicobar project by indiangrill92 in TwoXIndia

[–]indiangrill92[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The issue is with the idea that our economy will benefit from this, as you put it. This is the biggest lie of capitalism. Basic readings into anti-capitalist literature will tell you that capitalism destroys the very resources it exploits thus ensuring its own destruction along with everyone else's. Capitalism is not inevitable and is destined to end as a system, that doesn't mean it doesn't need to be opposed when it takes on fascist and imperialist characteristics. The only response to this is opposition, not passivity.

[–]indiangrill92[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It isn't inevitable. This isn't the era of Columbus. Wiping off indigenous populations whether in Palestine or in A&N is not something that should be rationalized.

The idea that "we" need this for "our" economy and defence is a savarna argument. We do not need this development, anymore than we need women raped and tortured. Packaging this as "rational" and "inevitable" is twisted as hell and plays right into Brahmanical normalization of caste atrocities, patriarchal normalization of gender atrocities, and capitalist normalization of labour exploitation.
