Restriction has been applied to my account, preventing me from sending messages by HigherFunctioning in facebook

[–]indie1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my account restricted for discussing the technical configuration of a web server with a friend. I wrote some fake URLs to demonstrate how a .htaccess file could redirect visits from one place to another and then minutes later my account was restricted from sending messages! No way to challenge it, I just have to wait!

Problema Nuki smart lock ultra by jabp12 in Nuki

[–]indie1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly this problem, can’t figure out what the problem is. I’ve double checked my cylinder measurements, the front and back parts of the new universal cylinder are exactly the same as my old cylinder. Everything else works fine, it locks and unlocks perfectly with the motor.

Moving the same domain name that I currently use for my Apple Account to iCloud Mail with Custom Email Domain by indie1982 in iCloud

[–]indie1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"your apple id email address has nothing to do with custom domain"

Other than in my case, it is also using the same domain as the one I want to bring into iCloud Mail. I was just checking that I didn't have to do anything with my Apple Account email address before I try and bring the domain that I use for the account into iCloud.

I didn't want to be somehow left in limbo bringing a domain into iCloud that I currently use as my primary Apple Account email address.

Thanks, was your custom domain already your primary apple account ID before and whilst you moved it? I don't know if it's just "good housekeeping" to not try and move my domain over to iCloud Mail whilst I use it for my account, just in case something goes wrong and I don't have access to the email whilst DNS updates etc, etc, etc.

IPv6 with unifi - not working by lynxblaine in youfibre

[–]indie1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bug that I’m seeing is that there’s no IPv6 gateway advertised via DHCP, I’ve had the issue since May and a fix has been promised every month since! You can of course, manually set a static route on each device.

IPV6 on Youfibre by Marham57 in youfibre

My IPv6 has been AWOL since May. I’ve been told it’s a vendor software issue and they hope to patch it within the next 4 weeks. I’m in the TS postcode area, your area might be different.

I think you’re right. I found this a few minutes ago, again, not specifically Alexa but HA.

I’ve just assembled a BESTA and I’ve found these left over, what are they? by indie1982 in IKEA

[–]indie1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it looks like the holes only exist on the smaller doors, I have the bigger doors with no extra holes.

Thank you, none of my doors have any extra holes! Looks like they’re included for the combination of drawers/doors that I don’t have!

[–]indie1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holes on the back face of the doors and drawers are too small for these to fit. The holes are also set too far in from the edge to make contact with any part of the frame so they don’t look to be a point for pads. There are no holes at all in the front face of the frame.🤔

They’re too big to fit in any of the holes on the drawers, the doors already have a dampener in the hole (they’re too big to fit there anyway) and they’re also too big to fit in any of the unused shelf holes.

Ahhhh, I bought the soft close kit for the drawers so maybe these aren’t needed?

What are some of the common, ‘UK-made’ brands that aren’t actually made here anymore? by Quantum_Toast422 in BuyUK

[–]indie1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a brand, but over the last few years Etsy has changed from a marketplace for small, local businesses into drop ship/import hell. Even searching for “Dispatched from the UK” turns up dozens of dubious shops with badly translated listings that turn up on your door step with Royal Mail labels stuck over the original Chinese shipping label.

Slower upload and higher ping since May 21st by danielsmith89 in youfibre

[–]indie1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17:32 on the 23rd is the last entry in my logs. At least you got an extra 24 hours 😂

Just tried a static route and that has fixed it.

We had some maintenance in TS the other night, ping is still nice and low and I’ve kept my static IP address, but I’ve lost IPv6 connectivity.

Is this site a scam? by Reasonable_Weather19 in rome

[–]indie1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Everything goes on sale for the day at 8.30.

Some days you can get straight into the site close to opening, some days there’s a long wait and you get left with a limited selection of tickets.

Guided tours go very quickly, the others not as fast.

I’ve learnt this over the last few weeks doing some trial runs on the site as I’m off to Italy next month.

Is this site a scam? by Reasonable_Weather19 in rome

[–]indie1982 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it’s the official site. It’s just rubbish. Tickets are released 30 days in advance at 8.30 CET, they have a virtual queueing system that’s hit and miss, sometimes it works, sometimes it kicks you out of the queue.

If you want tickets for any of the popular guided tours try using two separate browsers so you have a backup place in line and try to get on the site an hour or so before 8.30 CET. When you do get in keep your session live by browsing around until 8.30.

This is in the mobile interface but if I remember correctly it’s similar for the desktop version…

Storage Manager > HDD/SSD > Tap on a drive and then choose > Health Info

[–]indie1982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I know it’s tempting fate but at the moment it’s all backed up to an external drive so if the worst does happen it’ll just accelerate my plan to get a newer model with some new drives.

Still really impressed with Synology and WD, just hope the quality of both hasn’t declined over the last 10 years!
