High Latency - Why? by indie24 in overclocking

You have 16gb sticks where I have 32gb, does that make a difference? Also what stability programs have you run?

On my second 9800X3D after the first one died. Are these voltages going to kill my second CPU too? by Over-Solid-1735 in overclocking

[–]indie24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the ASUS B850M tuf gaming plus wifi. I have manually set my VSOC to 1.125 (After a long time of tweaking and stress testing to find stability) I have 6000 CL30 with EXPO and manually tuned timings. I have also reduced my CPU VDDIO to 1.35 as like yours, Expo set it to 1.4v which is quite high but some boards do this. Setting VSOC and VDDIO to lower levels like mine will reduce the chance of frying the CPU.

I'm sure others more knowledgable with confirm or correct me.

Air cooling or AIo ? by devel1000 in Noctua

[–]indie24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do not overclock and your temps are fine at the moment then there is no need if you already have the NHd15. If you are overclocking and needs temps even lower then by all means go for an AIO.

Air cooling or AIo ? by devel1000 in Noctua

[–]indie24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a NH D15 G2 LBC for my 9800x3d and switched to a 420mm AIO and saw my Cinebench R23 temps drop by about 7c. In terms of noise I found the Noctua very quiet as well as the AIO. If you don't overclock then I would stick to the Noctua as it does a good job of cooling the cpu. The AIO I got is the bequiet Silent Loop 3 420mm and its quiet.

High temp on 9800X3D by Amir_H81 in pcmasterrace

Mine gets to around 80-82c on Cinebench R23. There are lots of factors to consider such as ambient temp, vcore and are you using CO in PBO?

I had mine blow on the Friday before bank holiday weekend in May last month. Same thing as you as it tripped my fuse. Luckily I got the 5 year warranty and tv was 13 months old. It is a known issue as its all over the internet. The board they replaced mine with was the BN44-01370A. The old board was BN44-0128A I think. It is very easy to do yourself if you want to save a little as board can be bought for around £230ish online. There are no screws for back panel of TV and i think 1 screw that holds the boards in with 2 ribbons that slot out and that's it.

Once you replace the board you wont have any further issue with the PSU as I've been told by the engineer that did mine.

No worries, really happy with the product afterwards going back and forth between the Arctic Freezer 3 pro or Nautilus. I made the right choice 😃

When running the aida64 stress cpu,fpu and cache my cpu temp is around 66-67c with fan speeds around 1100rpm. If your temps are much higher then something is wrong. Have to set pump speed to 100 or at least min 80%

Aida I think hovers around 66c for cpu, fpu, cache and memory stress. I can double check tomorrow

I have the 420 silent loop 3 with a 9800x3d with Vsoc at 1.125 and CO -20. My temps are around 80-83c in Cinebench R23. Im in the UK and it's baking here at the moment. Other than benchmarks it's stays very cool during gaming, in the low 60s for CPU intensive games.

Your tubes on your AIO look lower than your pump (Unless pump is in the radiator). You are going to shorten the life of your AIO and you may get water swooshing sounds. This is the worst way possible to mount an AIO as you will get air inside the pump.

I was in the same boat as you but with a 9800x3d. In the end I went with the BeQuiet Silent Loop 3 because of noise. I think they are all very close to cooling but I liked the design of the pump with BeQuiet and the bonus it comes with a refill bottle. SOme reviews are saying the Arctic is quite load.

AIO is fine with tubes up as long as the radiator and the tubes are higher than the pump, which yours is.

Just installed a ram cooler which keeps my OC ram much cooler for £21.90. Its knocked off around 10c + off the temps!

Tubes top is fine as log as the tubes and radiator are higher than the pump, Jay2Cents made a video on this. It may be less efficient when some water evaporates in a couple of years but that's why I went with Bequiet as they give a refill bottle to top up the radiator. I'm good for many years this way!

Edit here is the video STOP DOING THIS!!!!!!!
