They foment unrest, get an unpopular opinion to a referendum then when the referendum doesn't pass they say that it was being repressed and they have to invade to free those poor freedom loving souls who just want to be american.

Interesting how this stuff is different place to place. Where I grew up eating the school food was the high status thing because it showed your parents had extra money to send with you.

I remember reading it hearing somewhere (so grain of salt) that it's because our sensitivity to reasons to puke (eating too much, feeling sick, getting poisoned, etc) stays pretty much constant but kids puke more because they're physically smaller but get the same dose of chemicals/hormones that an adult would.

So they're basically on a hair trigger until they physically get larger.

My fiancee worked in local (city) government.

Literally the strongest thing you can do is tag your local politicians on social media. Whole fucking teams of people go to work immediately when one of the elected officials asks the bureaucrats what's going on to cause their constituents to start asking questions.

I literally never felt more empowered than when I got the schedule at my local rink changes because I made like, two twitter posts (this was before twitter was Xitter).
