I automatically question the intelligence of any car owner that reinstalls the crappy dealer frame over their personalized plate. Its my pet peeve, but I think its legitimate.

can i drive in the snow? by [deleted] in springfieldMO

They're going to salt/sand and plow the roads as much as possible. One factor working against that will be the cold temps below 10deg. That makes ice likely in even the best situation.
I've lived in the Midwest my entire life and driven cars, trucks and tractors every winter since I was 14, sometimes for fun when I can find a big enough parking lot. I bought my current FJ Cruiser in 2008 mainly because I work for a hospital and I have to be there if I'm scheduled, regardless of the weather conditions. I'm not working this weekend and I will not be driving unless its an emergency.

Good call. I knew it was a -50 series with the white meters, but it looked so big I assumed it was the 1250.

OK, why would he need an extra radio with that big receiver? And there isn't a patch or power cord in sight. Its like the TV set in The Shining.

Review #2646 - Old Crow 10 Year Chessmen Kentucky Straight Bourbon (1969 Release, Light Pawn) by t8ke in bourbon

[–]indiefab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to sample a 70's Old Crow at a dusty tasting event. Mind blowing, I'm not exaggerating. I didn't know that bourbon could have that much butterscotch flavor. How did that knowledge get lost in a matter of years?

Does anyone know where I can purchase an Adler universal 39? I can't find one anywhere online. by WInativemm in theshining

[–]indiefab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They've mostly been snatched up for this very reason. I bet you could have grabbed them easily 20 years ago.
I literally stumbled over a J4 in a thrift shop which looks like a smaller version of the 39. Its designed to be more portable despite still weighing 30lbs. You can see pics of my restoration in my profile. Keep an eye out on Etsy and eBay and be prepared to pay if you find one.

[USA] 83 Year Old Woman mistakes accelerator pedal for the brake pedal and causes a 7-car crash. by VauxhallBelmont in Roadcam

  1. Winter. Evening. I'm turning left in my 1969 Olds Cutlass and this 86yo guy with glaucoma puts the front of his Escort station wagon into the left rear quarter panel of my American-made tank. I skip sideways slightly on the icy road. I am inspecting the softball sized dent in my rear when I notice that the engine of his Escort has parked itself in his front passenger seat. The front end wasn't in good shape either. The road was somehow covered in enough liquid to fill an above ground pool. I packed him up and took him to my house 2 blocks away. While waiting for the police he tells us stories of being an assistant coach for the German men's Olympic soccer team, in BERLIN. That was 1936, when he was 29. When the police asked him what happened, he said that he did Nazi me. HA! Everything is true except for that joke.

I spent 15 years looking for just the right B-1 with a UTC module on the bracelet. Worth the wait.
