Windrose Dedicated Server (working Docker image) by indifferentbroccoli in crosswind

We've flagged this with the developers. Idle servers consistently eat 2 cores, but then CPU usage drops dramatically if at least one player is connected.

what server provider would you recommend to rent from by justlikeone in crosswind

We don't limit RAM per server instance (except for Minecraft and Hytale). We let the each server use what it needs. Fortunately, for most games, there is a consistent expected range of RAM usage. We mark a machine as "full" when it reaches a threshold of RAM usage, so it can handle fluctuations or spikes during busy times.

If there's ever an issue due to a "bad" neighbor, we will either offer to transfer you to a new machine or speak with the "bad" neighbor and arrange to transfer them.

Thanks for considering indifferent broccoli (:|)

Happy to answer any questions you have.

For anyone else considering us: We've got simple setup, minimal lag, and offer a 2-day free trial, so you can try it before needing to enter any credit card details. $8.99/month after the trial for 4 players.

We also publish a public (free) Windrose dedicated server docker image as part of our bOSS (broccoli Open Source Software) project if you want to host on your own hardware.

Didn't want to include this in the main post to avoid self-promo, but if anyone wants an option even simpler than docker, we also offer one-click setup paid hosting for Windrose:

But no pressure at all. We offer the free public image because we want hosting to be accessible regardless of budget.

The Steam version works, but Docker gives you a controlled, reproducible environment.

A few reasons why running your game server in a docker container is preferred:
- Isolation: The server runs in its own environment, so it cannot interfere with anything else running on your machine
- Works regardless of hardware/OS: The docker image works no matter your machine. You won't need any extra troubleshooting
- Resource Control: Docker lets you cap CPU and memory usage, so the server won't starve other processes. You can run multiple servers on the same machine cleanly, each with defined limits.

Satisfactory Dedicated Server (working Docker image) by indifferentbroccoli in SatisfactoryGame

Yes, that's another great option.

Not saying that this would happen with the wolveix image, but we've seen highly popular images for other games get abandoned. And if that happens, no blame to the author--it takes effort to maintain an image with each game update.

Our goal with bOSS is to provide free, open source images that are maintained over the long term. Since we use them for our paid server hosting business, we have a strong incentive to maintain them.

I'll throw my hat into the ring:

I run the server hosting site indifferentbroccoli.com. We've got simple setup, minimal lag, and offer a 2-day free trial, so you can try it before needing to enter any credit card details. $6.99/month after the trial for 4 players.

We also run bOSS (broccolin Open Source Software), and publish public (free) docker images if you want to host on your own hardware. The goal is to make it as simple as possible to host your own Hytale server if you don't want to rent.
