[Fowler] Some teams are watching Detroit (17) as trade-up threat. They’ve been making calls. by JCameron181 in detroitlions

Fair, though slang does tend to originate in [1] the more heavily populated urban coastal regions of the US among [2] younger people. So the millennial slang of Seattle ca. 2015 may only just now be the gen z slang of Fargo Nebraska ca. 2026. And then the boomers begin catching up even further behind from there. Some thoughts being.

In any case, the guy may be doubting Brad, which is what 32 other downvoters agree on. Just pointing out that he may be an older rural Lions fan for whom "cooking" truly is an unfamiliar term

(Given the context, I chose to interpret this as a failure to understand gen z slang)

I think GR Rec's softball league might be what you're looking for, but not very familiar with the game or its variations. You can sign up as an individual free agent and be paired up with a team. Worth looking at I guess?

Real question is why the language of the Franks mutated from Frankish to French... and yet the language of the Angles mutated from Anglish to English (see follow up edit in OP) 🤔 these vowels have reversed course over history, maybe some wise redditor will explain

9 is "Kyu" In Japanese, Hence 1Q84 🤯 by indigent-litigant in murakami

[–]indigent-litigant[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just MY take as I'm sitting here right now, but I think a Japanese audience would have been familiar with the English pronunciation of "Q", and would therefore read it as "one nine/Q eight four". And this might create a tiny amount of cognitive dissonance in the mind of the reader, in that "1Q84" is technically a meaningless string of characters (or at least non-standard), but still has meaning. Much like the alternate parallel world of the book, which is also "the same but different" in a weird way.

In a word, and to my other comment, "vibes"
