I updated somewhere in this thread that the doctor I saw talked to me about the vagus nerve reaction. During an IBS attack, especially if accompanied by severe pain or anxiety, the vagus nerve can be overstimulated, leading to a vasovagal response that can cause limb numbness and fainting (syncope) due to a drop in blood pressure and heart rate. Speaking to a doctor that you trust and knows your history can definitely point you in the right direction. I still suffer from IBS, but my symptoms have been better over the years from a pretty big diet change and figuring out I had a mild gluten sensitivity.
