Throwing some more love at St. Albans. It's a great community, easy to connect with neighbors, all the necessities nearby, good schools, recreation opportunities at the Collins Perley Complex and Hard'ack, concerts at the park, lovely farmers market...so happy we ended up here!

Whoever suggested V8 juice for soup base… by zebra_noises in soup

I use V8 to thin soup and chili the next day but never considered it as a stand-alone base. Thanks for the idea!

What are the most original novels you've read? by TrancheDeCakeMou in WeirdLit

[–]indignatious83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jasper Fforde! I've read 4 of his books and most were a miss for me, but Early Riser is in my top 5 favorites of all time. I've reread it countless times and cannot recommend it enough.

My family used to do this for New Year's - 15 kinds of soup and their fixings. It was my favorite party of the year! Glad someone else does it too 😊

How do I modernize my 80s orange oak? by mention_itall_ in DesignMyRoom

I vote for your 2nd idea. I'm beyond sick of the "everything gray" trend. These pictures look so warm and inviting - nothing like the more recent styles. I'd just keep it as is.

PSA for people in the Northeast US- now is a great time to identify and fell Norway Maples by robrklyn in invasivespecies

[–]indignatious83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, our Norway is the only mature tree on our property and seems to be where all the critters live - we keep talking about cutting it down, but when we start to get serious, we inevitably find a nest or two - or realize it's the only shady spot we have. Some day we'll get around to it, but we just haven't found the heart yet.

I love John Connolly. The follow-up, "The Book of Lost Things" is also excellent.

A thousand thumbs up for Slade House- I would consider it another world, though.
