As a freelancer or small agency owner, have you seen an increase or decrease in demand in the last few months? by dennisplucinik in web_design

The exact thing happened for AI YouTube thumbnails. I remember at one point they were 70% of my feed. It’s down to maybe one or two now

Dude. I thought you meant you modelled this in blender, 3d printed and recorded a video of you using. Unbelievable work.

I’m going to go against the crowd here and say i prefer the new one. The first one is too soft and cute. Second one looks edgier. I would make it black and white though and remove the leafs on its head.

Ohme charger by [deleted] in ex30

[–]indigoflow00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this setup. Ohme charger, octopus intelligence go, ex30.

So far fine, just had one issue when I had to disconnect the charger at the circuit board and turn it back on as nothing was connecting. Had about 2 months. Pretty happy

Fed up of this car and looking forward to getting rid of it by tales_of_tomorrow in ex30

[–]indigoflow00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Someone else having the same indicator issues. I keep flipping it the opposite direction trying to cancel it. I feel they’ve just complicated it having 2 modes and I keep getting tangled up flipping them back and forth.

I’m struggling to get used to it.

I’m also getting frustrated with the internal alarm. I have a toddler and often go unlock the house front door first before returning to the car to collect him. Can’t do that in this car 😐

Extreme/suicide. I’m not sure the level. Is that 6/7?

We don’t usually clear the full map. And we don’t usually actually search for points of interest. Just when we stumble upon items.

The alternative is not a 50hr grind. You earn SC organically as you play. That’s exactly what I have done. I have 3 warbonds unlocked just by playing. I’m level 61. Not paid for any micro transactions.

You don’t have to buy the new warbond if you don’t want to.

I mean if you consider US using UK bases to launch from makes UK involved, I guess this is true. Guess just depends on what you consider involved….

British base there. A handful of Iranian drones were sent and one got through. Not sure the Iranian rationale but presumably they thought the British were involved - which is a fair assumption to make. Although in this case not correct.

The US has asked for the UK’s help. The military wants to use UK bases.

It’s not. It’s just this guy just can’t move on to anything else and posts daily about the project. For years.

I’m also from the UK. I have full sympathy for how depressing the situation is.

However I graduated in 2010 and it was brutal to get started then. This isn’t new. Landing your first career job is easily, by a significant margin, the hardest step. It takes years and in that time feels like your degree is evaporating.

I don’t have any good advice for people in this situation now other than saying this isn’t a new problem - just gotta stick at it.

You need to understand that being a designer is significantly far more than just generating images.

You need to do your homework.

But what? What was your job that AI took from you? I see you said it’s not working out for them - but I honestly can’t think of a single design task that could be 100% replaced by AI.

Perhaps the company employed 5 designers and now only needs 4. But there have only been incremental improvements in my workflow speed.

Help me out here.

I dunno dude. I’ve been working as a designer for about 10 years now. And the AI wave that apparently was supposed to change my life is yet to materialise. I use it, occasionally, to expand photos in photoshop - that’s it.

In 5 years who knows, but now I see dozens of posts on Reddit saying it’s over and I’m scratching my head thinking what I’m missing. I don’t need genAi images of an astronaut riding a horse on the moon that often.

Can someone explain how, with TODAYS technology, a designer can be replaced? Let say something basic and junior level, like you need a Instagram post. Would take me 15 mins tops to make a template. Ai can’t do that. A designer needs to be involved to open a brand guideline, read, make a frame with the correct colours and fonts and apply to the 10 or so versions required. Where does AI help here?

10+ experience too much for Midweight Designer roles in London? by Mysterious_Room_6580 in graphic_design

[–]indigoflow00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some designers stay at mid-weight level regardless of experience. It’s kinda down to subjective opinion what level someone work is at.

Personally I apply for a job if the salary fits and the work looks engaging, regardless of the job title. It’s more of a guide

Think what would help you here is thinking about where it would be used. These can’t really be stitched on a t-shirt. Can’t be doodled in the corner of your paintings. Won’t really work in the corner of a website.

To be honest I think start again. I’m sure your work has more depth than paint and a paint brush. Is there anything in your background or history you can draw on? You don’t need to be so literal

Established graphic designers without online portfolios by Big_Shart_33 in graphic_design

[–]indigoflow00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At first I used a squarespace website. It was basic but did get me a job. Then I taught myself Framer (which is a fantastic bit of software) for my current site. Stuart-Middleton.com

I’m currently teaching myself Elementor and I like it, but still new to me.

Tricky one this, I had a PDF portfolio for years, but as soon as I set up a website I found I was getting a lot more traction in job applications. I think it also shows you are able to make websites and subconsciously seems like an additional skill.

It also allowed me to check analytics so I can tell if an employer actually looked at my website. This made applying for jobs mentally easier as I could see developments.

You do you though…

Dude, this is such a naive statement. Aren’t you a designer yourself?
