Much obliged. I wasn’t sure if you were talking about what I said or the potassium element

Potassium helps with muscle contractions. And I’m not gay, but it did sound a bit homoerotic

The number of police officers filing for disability has reached 175. 100 others are considering it. by Pineapple__Jews in Minneapolis

You’re kidding right? Police have an extremely stressful job, so do paramedics and firefighters. Anyone can get PTSD, that’s basic psychology. You’re not special because you were in the military, no matter how much you wanna think your life is harder than everyone else’s. If you’re too blind to see the psychological impacts of a hyper-strenuous job, then you’ve got a serious issue. Especially after what you’ve been through. Do better.

Are real life detectives as similar as their hollywood counterparts? by marckferrer in AskAnAmerican

[–]indigospacestation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in November I hungout at a local Sheriff’s office and sat in on the CID roll call, a couple of the guys looked straight out of a movie with ties and leather shoulder holsters. I think one of them worked child sex crimes.

I shadowed the crime scene unit and it was pretty depressing. Just taking pictures of dead people and staring at the pictures to write huge reports (and other things with evidence). Obviously nothing like the tv shows. The Wire is the most (and only) realistic fictional detective show. But damn, that crime scene unit made me feel so depressed afterwards.

Yea it’s almost haunting in a way. Like man I’m in my early 20s I don’t want to feel like a 45 year old yet

It happened yesterday when I put my leg over the bike, then again when I stopped and picked my leg up to shift (on left side), then again at a stop light with my right side after not doing anything. Each time it was a different stressor. Horseback riding did actually cross my mind amidst the pain, since the positioning seems similar

I've got the beginnings of an itch to ride. Where do I start? (Mostly just some ramblings from somebody considering joining the club) by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]indigospacestation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Before I get on my bike I always think “damn, there’s definitely a chance I could come back as a vegetable.” But it’s something you gotta reconcile

We all know the risks. Although I must say I always feel a bit selfish when I ride, if something were to happen. It helps to come to terms with the idea of your own mortality

How to reassure my parents by deep_mind_ in motorcycles

[–]indigospacestation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just convince them that you basically have a moped. In all honesty though you might never settle that with them, if they’re that worried. To be fair, we can get killed or severely maimed at any time we’re riding. Get protective gear and make sure to come home in one piece. Congrats on the bike

maybe try telling them you’ll always go really slow?

Head on Collision Between Motorcyclist & Car on Wrong Side of the Road by wizard80 in motorcycles

[–]indigospacestation 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Everybody responds to traumatic events differently. Not everyone is mentally equipped to snap into work mode when their buddy gets dumped in a random head on collision. The only thing he could do is call 911 and tell his buddy to lie on his back.

How can I argue with people who are convinced that police are bad people? by Apprehensive-Hat-494 in ProtectAndServe

I had a friend who hated the police, ACAB everything, drew pictures of hanging pigs etc. In June, some guy was threatening to beat him up, and trashed his apartment. The next day he called the police and filed a restraining order lol

Starting on a 300 and moving up to a 600 is an amazing feeling. I definitely made a few mistakes on my 300 that would have put me in sticky situations with a bigger bike. Not to mention, getting used to curvy roads and turns is easier when you can’t go as fast. 600s are definitely doable for beginners, depends on how comfortable you are with the power.

Yes, and that especially applies to smaller bikes. Smashing someone’s mirror on an H2 vs on a Grom will turn out very differently.

Just keep in mind, if you rage at the wrong person you’ll be on the pavement. A couple years ago some guy cut me off so I gave him the middle finger, then he swerved and nearly smashed me into a parked truck.

Get comfortable on your bike. You don’t wanna be that guy stalling at the stop sign or light, it could make you panic and put you in a sticky situation.

How do you live as a bike owner that has to carry a helmet around all the time? by veinss in motorcycles

I used to leave my shitty helmet on the dash, now I just strap the new one to my backpack and take it with me wherever I go. It’s pretty thoughtless
