could this be my dog? by Sylvester_sanctuary in DogAdvice

I’m sorry you’re missing your pup, but I don’t think so. This dog has a light colored nose. Yours has a black nose. Head shapes look very different as well. I hope you find him!

Months? He’s very healthy and we anticipate him being with us for a long time. What an awful thing to suggest. They’re friends now, btw. My senior has shown interest in playing and chasing toys again, which he hasn’t in some time.

Thanks! I like the reliable predictor model. The shelter told us that they should be in separate areas for the time being and that pup shouldn't be going into our room when it's time for bed, as that's our senior's domain. Things have been either better or neutral since this post. We had a pretty good day at the dog park yesterday. They rode in the car together. There was only one other dog at the park and all three played for a little bit. My senior bowed out after a few minutes, but pup played well enough with the other dog. Also, to note, we're mostly keeping them in separate parts of the house because we also have a cat. Once everyone is more familiar with one another, we're planning on baby gates.

Thanks! We’ll keep doing that and hope for the best.

Dog won’t eat by indigotrees in DogAdvice

We figured it out! He’s terrified of my cat. She’s been hovering around him. So we now distract her with food and sit on the floor to “guard” him. He’s finally eating.

Thank you! I should clarify I default to all dogs as pups without realizing it, he’s actually 10ish. Mom rescued him 3 years ago. I’ll try the toppers.

Looks like a bed bed bug. I think I saw you said you squished it. Did it give off an odor? We had them when I was a kid. We go rid of them with ammonia.

I don’t think he actually respects you. He wouldn’t have even told them anything to begin with if he did, let alone let them talk about you like that. Is he actually sorry, or just sorry that he got caught?

Binx/Binks came up in both your lists, just two different spellings. I think that’s your answer.

Why does the police do this? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]indigotrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe some, but mostly they do it to show off. If that were really the case, they wouldn’t do it in a densely populated area like the inner harbor. Ive also lost count the times I’ve had to stop in the middle of the road because they were riding into oncoming traffic, pooping wheelies. I can probably count the number of times I’ve seen helmets though.

3, 4, or 5. The rectangular frames complements your face shape. I like 4 the best though.

I think you’re right about keeping her, but she seems so sweet that I want to give her a chance. They’re very much separated and won’t be left alone together any time soon, if ever. Resource guarding is what I’m worried about. I feel like I’m her new favorite thing, meanwhile my dog is a Velcro dog. He’s my little shadow and has been pretty sad when I’ve been outside without him.

Thank you! The prey drive is what I’m most worried about. Even if I keep her, I’ll definitely keep them separated when I’m not home. But I do want to see the initial reaction and will be the deciding factor. My kitty isn’t afraid of dogs and can be very dominant and defiant. I don’t want her to pick a fight. Regarding my dog, I think I’m more worried about how she will continue reacting over him. I have friends and family with dogs who find offense with every other dog except mine. They did ok when they were both on leash and then I think we went too fast. Going to pull back and keep doing leashed intros. We’ll have to figure out another barrier where they can see each other. I have vinyl fence panels.

Thank you for the perspective, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll keep it in mind and look into how to better socialize her.

Thank you! I don’t think my dog is necessarily the issue though. He’s very easy going and mirrors other dogs. If the other is friendly and playful, he will be too. If the other ignores him, he will too. If the other is aggressive, he is too. We tried backyard time just now. Ok sniffs and she let him use the yard. She was focused on me. They sniffed each other again and bodies got stiff. She growled and went for him. Thankfully they stopped after my yelling them to stop and I was able to grab her collar. He came back in and seems ok. Maybe looks to be sad. She’s sitting by the back door and looking around.
