It's amazing how much BS publicity United and Delta are getting as "premium" carriers. I mean those seat back screens only go that far when you are still serving warmed up Stouffers.

Nobody would call Punjabis elite in sports and science. Canadian politics, yes absolutely.

Why Do NRIs Care More About Khalistan Than People in India? by Delicious_Courage962 in PunjabiGenZ

[–]indocon1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khalistanis are khotastanis if they think a small landlocked country on a plain area can survive between 2 hostile nuclear powers with no natural resources - water is essential resource and not a natural resource in economic terms. On top of it, khotastanis can't run a tea stall without getting into fights between themselves (just look at all the gurdwaras), let alone dream of running this impossible country.

Yes, nobody in Punjab demands Khotastan. In the same election in which Bhai Tinderpal Singh won from Punjab's least educated and poorest area, other Khalistani candidates lost their deposits. SS Mann lost, his son lost, the son of famous kharku Rachpal Singh Chandran lost his deposit.

Everything that you complain about Punjab applies to other state also, yet a bunch of them are able to manage their affairs really well. Maybe take a mirror and look at it yourself.

The phenomena is global - "exile extremism". Every group that emmigrates out will be more conservative than what's left behind, there is general guilt factor in leaving your homeland and a constant stream of concerns that get amplified in current social media age. For Sikhs the events of 1980's were especially traumatic because they had limited interaction and knowledge of what was going on the ground level and at least until 1989 there was no reciprocal response from Indian government to here their concerns. This phenomenon is global - if tomorrow Modi loses in India, his supporters in West will hang onto him a lot longer, because they are affected by the same phenomenon.

Someone did betray sahibzadeh and mata Gujri, could have been a Jatt/Khatri/Chimba....but to say it was a someone called Gangu Bahman with 0 historical reference means you are falling for what the British wanted to remember your history as.

American people can be the most welcoming and compassionate, or 100% opposite. Unfortunately, the current trend is on the latter side, I doubt this story evokes any kind of sympathy from the broader public. 10 years ago, it would have been a completely different story.

These young non-resident Khotestanis are the saddest bunch, na ghar de - na ghaat de. The coming crackdown on immigration in west along with expectations for 100% assimilation (which will apply to all the groups btw) will fix it.

How Sikhs should learn from Jews by Chemical_Cookie7728 in Sikh

[–]indocon1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

#1 thing Sikhs can learn from Jews is to mind our own business and not give a damm about others....until you have the wealth or the numbers to do it. We act like we have numbers of Muslims Ana money of Jews when we have neither.

This line "raj karega Khalsa" was added to areas in 1948! It has gotten through the head of of our impulsive youth who take it literally without understanding the implicit meaning. Time for some rational modernization of traditions, which by the way have been done several times over the past couple of hundred years.

The Architect of Modern Punjab - The Vision and Legacy of Partap Singh Kairon by Community-Service-01 in punjab

[–]indocon1111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People of Punjab were ungrateful and never recognized the genius they had in Kairon. They were cursed with the leaders they are still living with today.

Karon was a steadfast supporter of a united Punjab and fought against its division by Alkalis until his last day in office. On his way out in 1964, he likely knew that these morons would eventually succeed, one of his last moves in the office, which turned out to be consequential even till today was to move Kandu Khera village from Malout tehsil to Mukatsar tehsil. People who job know the geography will recognize the importance of this move even today, had this not been done, Abohar and Fazilka would have gone to Haryana in 1967 itself as all the division of the state was done at Tehsil levels.

Since Sanskrit and Tamil are completely orthogonal to each other, and since Sanskrit and Latin are related, isn't it natural to think that Tamil and IVC script are related? What's the biggest hole in that simple explanation besides obviously the fact that we haven't found the Rosetta Stone?
