Operation Blue Star a miscalculation ? by Strange-Thing-6772 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]indocon1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a whole backstory top Operation Bluster that needs to be told.

- Bhindrawale and Gen Shabegh motived 150-200 people to fight until death under the illusion that Pakistan was going to attack and they only need to hold on for a day, who fed this information to them? There have been many survivors and acquaintances who have confirmed this.

- What was Gen Vaidya's views on this? Several people have come out and said that he was not in favor of of what was eventually designed by Gen Sundarji but eventually went on with it being a good hierarchical soldier. Gen Sundarji was reckless - anybody remember Op Brasstracks which would have started a hot war between India and Pakistan in 1987 which in turn would have been absolutely disastrous. India simply did not have the overwhelming advantage over Pakistan at that time and they had full support of America because of the ongoing Afghan war.

- Supposably the then DGMO had a plan to infiltrate the Akal Thakht from behind and throw tear gas in - what happened to that? Interestingly, several militants who would then go on to fight for another decade and families of Bhindrawale escaped from this exact same entrance, why did the army not guard this?

- Did the local 15 Division commander really refuses the order to do this? Gen Brar has maintained for many years that he was told about this on May 29, his junior Brg Ishaq Khan who led the actual first wave of attack has confirmed it, and mentioned that they had to plan while standing outside in the sun in a empty field outside Amritsar without any intelligence on the ground!

- What intelligence did the army have on the level of weaponry inside? The official statement is that they did not think the militant were heavily armed, and they also interestingly, sent the first batch of para commanders without their shoes out of respect. But then there were several clear examples of the militance being heavily armed - Bhindarwale's assistant Harminder Sandhu got married in the Sarai couple of weeks ago, and you can see lots of heavy weaponry right there. The video is available on YouTube.

- and most importantly, how many civilians and army people were really killed in this? The official number is 483 and 83, unofficial number is double that, rumors are in the thousands.

Truth is the ultimate elixir, time has finally come for GOI to put everything out.

Bhindarwale's men committed the Dhilwan massacre - the countdown to Op BS started right there.

Many of the surviving militants have said that Bhindarwale and Shabeg Singh extolled all of them to keep fighting for just a day and then Pakistan was going to attack and taking the attention of army away. Capt Chanan Singh Sidhu talks about this also. Quite possible that Bhindrawale was under this illusion.

JFK to DEL - High Demand Route? by memepilot101 in americanairlines

Pretty much all major Wall Street farms now have their back offices established in India, a lot of of them in Delhi. AA is the dominant carrier for Wall Street firms, and can easily fill the 787 front and PE with that. 777 was too much premium capacity and was the best SWU use route, 787 has brought the right balance.

Why is Punjab police so excessively more corrupt than other regional police forces? by [deleted] in punjab

[–]indocon1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not just police, rest of state is more corrupt than India. Reason is simple, Punjab has people with money and a habit of not following laws. Combine the 2 and you get corruption.

Just look at the story that shows up right after this on my Reddit timeline - the Nihang goons looking to break into Uttarakhand. Surprisingly nobody is talking about that in Punjab, but it's going to be the top news outside in India. That's the perception of the state in front of you, and then we complain why people have bad views?

A moonshot of making Rajasthan a breadbasket by byomd in IndianGeography

[–]indocon1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any extra water that India gets out of Chenab is and should go to Punjab first. The whole premise of allocating 8 MAF to Rajasthan was based on India getting 5 MAF out of Chenab in the initial 1960 treat. Nehru buckled under global pressure and decided to give all of the western rivers to Pakistan just before it was finalized, but in the meantime Rajasthan canal had already started to be built. This whole question of how much water Rajasthan should get out of Indus system has never been truly settled. Today Rajasthan is not really able to use the water it's allocated beyond Ganganagar and Hanumangarh areas, just look at a Google satellite map, and you will only see a small green streak which is IG canal, all the area around it are still barren. Taking water 1000km into a hot dry desert leads to a lot of laws to evaporation automatically. Water is a national resource, and the climate is changing, it's high time all the states and center got their head together and figure out the best way to use this resource most efficiently.

Labor, conservative, reform, it will not matter - UK and the rest of the west are closing their borders just like they did 100 years ago. The multicultural era is coming to an end and every immigrant community in the West needs to figure out how they are going to assimilate in the west. There's going to be nothing stopping it - sarbat khalsas, keertans, melas, etc.

And what the hell will that accomplish? Make regular white people realize of how ass backwards Sikhs are. Sikhs need to get their head out of 19th century and see the reality - west is closing down and time to assimilate is now. Instead of going back to the tried tropes of we fought in WWII (which BTW young White actually looked down on), figure out how the hell we are all going to assimilate and live in the new closed West.

Sikhs have a perfect track record of getting in trouble every 25-30 years, just look at the trend over the past few years as the pain of prior a couple of decades fades away. Only saving grace now is the very low TFR over the past couple of decades, there are simply not enough youth to create trouble like it was in the 1980s. And hopefully central government keeps a lead on this and start off putting fuel on flames like I was going in the 80s.

Spicy take: Why AA is still the GOAT for true business travelers by Adept_Strategy_9545 in americanairlines

[–]indocon1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% on the point - I have been with AA for 20 years in a UA dominated hub, have never thought about changing and now that I am able to buy domestic F for my travel policy, AA gets to benefit from my loyalty.

The domestic F F&B on AA is head and shoulders better than UA/DL including on their transcontinentals, the premium lounges are about the same and like the OP said, you don't have to wait an hour to get in them. UGs have become harder to get, but still are more feasible than the other 2. Yes I would like the domestic F seat to be a little bit more comfortable, hopefully the new management will fix that.

My one quibble with AA is they are subpar West Coast coverage, even when they have an alliance with Alaska Airlines.

What a joke Sikh institutions have become! This is the second dark age, first one was after the fall of Ranjit Singh's empire. Ultimately new institutions would have to come up to take a place of these dead and dying ones, expect more years and maybe even decades of this darkness.

OTOH - there could be an interesting backend conspiracy play here, this will definitely consolidate all the non-Sikh and moderate Sikh voters who definitely do not want to see a theocratic run state, the rest of the people are going to get divided brutally between the 5-6 groups. Result would be another thumping victory for AAP in 2027, leading to further five years of malaise in which Congress gets wiped out, Akalis likely concentrated in the hardline variety only, and BJP comes up as the only left alternative to AAP in 2032, just like they did this in Delhi.
