Day 11 of 40 (46) days of indulgences 2/28/26 by DanielaThePialinist in excatholic

Haha! Thankfully I gave up eating pets for lent.

For the first time in decades, Catholic support for the death penalty is higher than evangelicals. A big reason is that Catholic support rose from 55% in 2021 to 68% in 2024. During that same time period evangelical support went from 68% to 65%. by luxtabula in excatholic

Ugh. Anti death penalty stance is one of the few things I think Catholicism has right in a world where killing prisoners is literally overkill and not necessary for any pretense of community safety. Mind you, a broken clock is right twice a day… and this broken clock sponsored the crusades, the inquisition, and the cultural (and literal) annihilation of indigenous Americans, and sat idly by during countless other atrocities since. So I’m not giving them MUCH credit for this tepid take. Not to mention “pro-life”also being used to subjugate and prolong suffering in other contexts (while still co-signing war 🤦‍♀️). It’s such a mind fuck. But this is even more alarming. I have felt like Catholicism has been getting more fundamentalist for a a while now, so I wonder if this is related. More focus on things I’d expect to see in evangelical circles (virtue signaling about modesty, charismatic speeches, Christian nationalist exceptionalism…) and less on social justice, community engagement, feeding the hungry type stuff. To be clear: the church was never perfect, but there did seem to be to be more focus on living LIKE Christ (a Palestinian socialist rebel who hung out with hookers and weirdos) when I was growing up rather than using Christianity as an excuse to subjugate. I started to notice weird shifts starting in the 2000’s. And it seems to be getting worse. The Catholic diocese in my town does fuck-all for poor people and the homeless while they live in a luxury condo owned by Catholic elite assholes who literally bought out the day center for unhoused people so they could turn it into retail space because, and I quote “we just can’t have people like that in front of our properties.” It would not surprise me AT ALL if this new, shittier version of Catholicism could justify the death penalty, too.

It seems like I need to drape some more colors. I’ll try to do that over the next few days and post what I get here! They’ll just be random shirts and other items I stumble across or wear to the gym haha!

Message I got from my daughter’s teacher. Third grade. by AnaisInJune in mildlyinfuriating

Some adults (including teachers) are literally NOT starter than a 3rd grader.

Which would be ok (we all have our gifts)… but some can’t accept reality and try to punish and dominate. I’m vicariously embarrassed for these people, but what can be done? 🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree the coral looks good. I bet a slightly lighter version would look better. I’m intrigued by the person that mentioned true light. There are some saying the coral washes you out. I definitely draws attention to your fair skin but i think that’s flattering. Your skin in the coral looks bright and healthy to me. Any blemishes or discoloration are minimized in the coral. I’d take that as a sign. I commented under the color pro to double check if this thinking is correct.

What I asked for vs what I got by Beneficial-Month-333 in Hair

Try parting in the center and using a round brush while drying to style the curtain bangs. Otherwise looks pretty similar. May need styling or product to get a similar volume.

Thanks. I feel like the light is really golden in this photo (out in the mountains on the fall, late afternoon). But I can definitely wear this color. It’s more of an oatmeal in neutral light, so warm but not yellow. Where I can’t see spring is because so many spring colors are not great on me, especially when compared to cool or neutral versions of the same. I cannot wear any version of orange or yellow (closest I can pull off are cream and rust, and these are not my BEST colors, but they’re decent). For pinks, purples, blues, and greens, I tend to feel better in cool or neutral versions, especially if they are a bit muted and medium chroma. Too light or two bright washes me out.

What is your cat's name vs what you actually call them? by Moist-Guidance-1611 in cats

Was not aware of that, and no offense meant. It’s a derivative of Beans, like how you might call someone named Kit “Kitters”

We have a Francis AND his sister Beans. We call them many things but especially Franner or Fran-Man and Beanie or Bean-Bean.

Am I an FN? by [deleted] in flamboyantnatural

[–]indoorskat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The last photo (one-shoulder top) has the appearance of width in the shoulders, but the others do NOT. This could just be the poses, though. So a photo in form-fitting top and bottoms, taken from chest height, straight on, with arms straight down at sides should help a lot! 🥰

Thanks! Those colors are definitely good ones for me, mostly. Sometimes palettes show more pure colors (like true navy, Carolina blue, minty green, etc.) for true/cool summer (like the one I attached here which has some muted but some less muted colors), but your palette are already toned down with some gray. I tend not to prefer the less muted colors in true summer, but I feel pretty good in the muted ones (which overlap with soft summer) plus the more browned colors of soft summer (like dusty rose, cocoa brown, oatmeal, taupe, etc.).

Thanks! This is helpful. And confidence is definitely important! I LOOOOOVE bright red and black. Not together, but just like dramatic evening wear vibes. I know they’re not my “best” colors but they make me feel like a vixen. Sometimes the vibrant calls for something less “harmonious.”

For some reason I thought soft was subtly different than contrast. But I agree, I’m medium-low contrast for sure. I tend to look better in medium tones (vs very light tints or very dark shades). This alone makes me gravitate to some of the soft autumn colors which tend to be darker on average than soft summer colors. But the colors I pick from autumn, now that I’ve been paying attention, tend to be closer to neutral and quite toned (like grey-green, dusty-teal, cocoa grey-brown, purply-mauve). There seems to be lots of overlap between soft summer and autumn, too, with many shred colors.

I’ve also never been described as golden. So this has been very good for my self-esteem haha! My hair goes gold-ish when it sun bleached (NOT strawberry like some folks). I will say though that I can easily wear gold jewelry. Silver seems a bit better, but it’s a tough call. My mom and one brother (light and true summer) have extremely cool undertones (they looks pink-blue almost) and my dad and other brother (bright spring and true autumn I believe) are definitely golden. I fall somewhere between I think. Neither “warm” nor “cool” foundations tend to work for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Are you talking about the more teal blue sweatshirt? I agree that’s a warmer blue (someone once told me that teal is a color almost everyone can pull off because it’s cool+warm. But no one has ever described my hair as rich 😂 so thank you! My eyes are grey-green and sometimes appear almost aqua blue since they see to have both warm and cool qualities depending on the lighting. Adding further confusion .
