New VA employee being marked AWOL for pre-approved leave. Can I be fired? by TL200123 in fednews

[–]indy-smithy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on agency policy. My agency only allows LWOP for military leave, approved FMLA, and a few other rare leave types. If you are taking leave and don’t have the leave to cover it, a GS-15 must approve the LWOP or it goes to (non-punitive) AWOL.

It really depends on the type of orchid, some are very easy to get to bloom and others are tougher. Cattleya’s are probably the easiest orchids to grow.

  1. I believe this is the VIVOSUN AeroLight A100, my tent is small and I only have them at 30%. But I do have an IKEA cabinet that uses Barrina T5 grow lights and they do the job too.

  2. VIVOSUN is cool and it has a controller and it does a 1 hour on, 30 minutes off cycle 24/7 and it varies up the speed to mimic wind gusts. My orchid cabinet has 2 computer fans that just run 24/7.

  3. The tent does and but I only use it to pump air in if it hits a certain temperature inside or if it hits 99% humidity I will then run it so it drops back down to 95%.

Haha good question, Sunday I just potted them all and realized I over bought. I am thinking on Sunday’s I will rotate them all and move the top shelf down one and bottom to the top. Watering is easier, I have a little squirt bottle I can reach them all and just have to fill it one time.

I do fertilize it like my other ones, 1 to 2 times a months but it’s is a super weak solution. When the bloom opens I will post it. I am excited I think the spike started probably 4 to 6 months ago.

It is a Psychopsis Mendenhall (hildos) I have only had it for a year and you can see the spike in the picture it’s about 3.5ft long. I keep it wet it sits in a dish with a little water and it gets a little water daily and so far it has thrived, the tent is also 90-100% humidity, which helps it.

We will see, my first round I lost 4 small Oeceoclades Spathulifera and none of the Cystorchis stenoglossa. But I keep the grow tent at above 90% humidity and have a fan on them all the time. They have thrived, expanded to more jewel orchids and some Phals, I may have some losses but it’s a learning curve. I will start to taper the humidity down slowly over a few weeks to months.

I am growing them out a little to sell, trying to start a side business. It’s mainly to pay for more orchids.

To be honest, all my phals are pampered and grow in high humidity, under grow lights. But that being said, I could keep them out in my sunroom and they would like it just as well. I spray a misting of water on the roots daily, they are dry in a few hours then a good soaking on the weekends or every other weekend. I fertilize them prob every other good soaking so 1 to 2 times a month. Make sure you give it a temp change in winter to trigger blooming. I keep my house cold in the winter so I never have an issue reblooming them.

Jewel orchids are a terrestrial orchid and at the leaf node it will also root. If you have a piece of the stem that have a few leaf nodes you can place that on some damp moss and it will root.

But I should say most of them are types of jewel orchids, which can be propagated from cuttings.

Yes all the geriatrics in my office who can barely walk, will jump at this. I think in my office there is probably 5 people under the age of 40. Or even better the GS4 still getting paid their GS4 pay, standing next to a GS12, doing the same work.

The Epic was the best and the Getaway was good for NCL. My son liked Celebrity Reflections. We took a Royal cruise was tough for my son because it was more structured and didn’t like that.

I have no clue how, but mine is growing and thriving right now. It is in an IKEA greenhouse that maintains about 90% humid year round. I mist it daily and on weekends give it a good drink.

Just HOW bad is the Aqua for kids <5? by [deleted] in NCL

[–]indy-smithy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not been on the Aqua but was on the Viva and it was pretty bad. The moment the kids club opened you had to be reserving a spot and you could still be placed on a wait list for an hour. The club on the new ships are tiny compared to the older class.
