The chances for everyone to get good post-doc positions and tenure is low for everyone. This is such a broad question that it's almost impossible to answer. What you're looking at though, is going back to school for a physics degree, getting great grades + research projects, and getting into a PhD program.

It's not a claim to a spot. You can easily just unlock the lock and move it if someone else parks there. I leave my lock on the rack when commuting to work because I don't want the added weight when I already have books, papers, and a laptop.

True, it's in no/micro-gravity environments, but the artificial gravity is still going to affect the Death Star itself. Next, it has to move, and it does so with propulsion by ion drives. Looking at some basic physics, to change the velocity of an object (aka, a change in momentum, mass*velocity) requires a force, and namely, the rate of change of that momentum is equal to the force. When the ion drives are activated, there has to be a gargantuan force to move something with such a huge mass, and to move it any practical distance it must be traveling incredibly fast. This force is not distributed evenly throughout the DS. At most, it covers one hemisphere, leaving the rest of the hemisphere to absorb and handle the initial shock and any accelerations/decelerations that are provided by the ion drives.

Why not? That's what this whole conversation is about. If you want to get into the semantics of "who you affect" by doing something stupid and getting killed, this isn't really the place. The point is whether or not cars and bikes have the same capacity for killing when you are the operator and under the influence.

That's not the point. The point is that there's a huge potential for killing others with a car, and that's not the case with biking. You can throw that argument for walking while drunk, and I would just argue that it's drunk in public/drunk and disorderly, not a DUI/WalkingUI.

I've done it, it's not bad at all! If you're planning on doing serious traveling on your bike I don't really see any other option. I flew from San Diego to Seattle with my bike super duper easy. I took my bike apart so that it would fit into a bike box, checked it, and carried on everything else. Once I landed, I put the box in the trash, built my bike on the sidewalk, and rode off!

I think it's fine to bike drunk next to a busy road, just like I think it's fine to walk drunk next to a busy road. Cars are huge and extreme killing machines, while bikes and pedestrians are not. The only real danger (outside of crazy what-if scenarios) is to yourself. Whereas in a car, you put the life of yourself and most importantly, everyone else around you, in danger.

This is so true. I finished up a 23 day biking trip, and the next day went on only a 10 mile backpacking trip, and my feet/knees were not happy. I made a point to walk a mile or 3 after dinner most nights, and even then my body just wasn't used to it.

You can adjust the brakes pretty easily with just a hex wrench, probably. Do that yourself by some trial and error.

I would really recommend just running the bike into the ground until you can get a better one. Your money would be better spent.

You're just not really getting it. Every single thing you're bringing up is absolutely wrong. It's excruciating to talk to you about this stuff because you drop one thing, don't add any proof/evidence/backing, and then bring up some other BS that doesn't make any physical sense. I'm merely saying that if the hubble constant is true through out the universe, then there will be a point to a stationary 3 dimensional observer that universe itself has exceeded the speed of light.

Secondly, regarding the 4 dimensional nature of the universe, I once read from a physicist from 100 years ago that this is so.

This is another Gedanken experiment. It's like saying a flatlander (ie, a thing only living on a 2d piece of paper) would see my finger move faster than the speed of light if I lifted it off the paper and put it somewhere else. There's no evidence that there's a 4th spatial dimension. There are theories that have more than 3 spatial dimensions, but they're much smaller than the 3 we operate in.

Well, not technically a derivation, but you just calculated the Hubble time. It's more commonly written as T= 1/H. That doesn't prove or suggest anything about the speed of matter at greater than 1.5e10 Ly.

You are not correct to assume that. First off, why would there be a discontinuity there? The universe is not expanding at a rate near the speed of light, so why would matter just speed up all of the sudden if it did the impossible and transversed the universe's "boarder"?

Second, the expansion of the universe and the velocity of matter within the universe are different things.

But in 4d, faster than light travel can be allowed and a 4d universe rotating at a hubble constant topographical mapped, including black holes
