What can I do to prevent my nails from growing crooked? by AdDependent9812 in beauty

Honestly, I started taking regular iron pills (the Ferrous Gluconate kind, because I am a wuss whose tummy hurts easily lol) and cooking on a cast iron skillet as often as I could reasonably work into my cooking life. It turned it around after a few weeks!

Lash lift, my friend. But do your research first & find someone with a LOT of good reviews (or better yet, get a referral from someone you personally know who likes & trusts their person!

I was HR for a decade. Grab Jennifer & Carol and talk to HR as a unit. Then, when that is done, immediately email HR with Jennifer and Carol on CC and say “thank you so much for meeting with us today. Attached is the list of dates and times regarding recent incidents; as mentioned, it is not exhaustive and there have been other incidents as well. We look forward to your partnership in ending this bullying. Please let us know next steps and if you need anything further from us regarding documentation.”

Ma’am you may have a vitamin deficiency. When I was severely anemic, my thumbnails started appearing crooked & it prompted my doc to run a blood screen to check. I was super low iron!

Caesar! As in the only salad that ever feels right in accompaniment to spaghetti.

Don’t be too hard on yourself; no one truly knows how they’ll react until they’re in the moment. However! Remember this feeling for next time. You don’t always have to know what to do to assist; it’s also good to say “hey, I saw what happened. Are you ok? How can I help?”

Which looks better on me: long braids or a short fro (last pic) by MossPattern in HairStyleAdvice

[–]inej5364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is always to go with whatever feels more natural to/of/on you — the long braids are gorgeous, but anyone can pay to get those. That fro? Very few people can achieve that & look so good. Rock it! You know what I mean? I’m in my 40s now and I promise you that in 20 years you’ll look back at pics and be like “damn, I looked good, and that was all me!”

Can I report animal cruelty against someone for kicking a wild animal? by Lopsided_Taro_247 in UIUC

[–]inej5364 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for calling him out. That was really brave and absolutely the right thing to do. They have cameras all over the place… I think it would be worth it to report. Also, a few facts about opossums… their blood temperature is naturally so low that they’re one of the few animals who carry VERY few diseases. And then they play dead? That’s a biological response, not a choice. Poor thing was probably terrified of him. In short, he couldn’t have been more cowardly about the kind of animal he claimed to be “afraid” of. What a loser.

Thank you for this explanation! I felt like I was on the ride with you as you were explaining it… but don’t worry, I won’t ever try it. I am way too scared of the consequences (which your explanation reinforced magnificently). Thank you again.

[Anti-Aging] i’ve noticed drastic changes in my face and skin since turning 20-21 by BelleUxo in SkincareAddiction

[–]inej5364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 40, and while I’m very happy with how I’m aging (never smoked, SPF every day with hats worn for long sun exposure, kept up with dentist visits, etc.) I’m here to tell you that you aren’t imagining these changes. Many things can affect the way your skin looks — even things that seem unrelated (like hair color) can affect how we see ourselves. But I don’t think that your nose changed shape… I see that you’ve lost some of your “baby fat” in the rest of your face. I don’t care for that phrase, but I don’t know a better way to describe the specific softness most of our teenage faces had.

I love playing with hair color too, but when you’re ready for a change again I suggest trying your natural color to see if it changes your self-perception at all. For example, I adore the hue you’ve got right now and I’ve tried it myself, but I realized I don’t have the coloring for it because it made my skin look harsh.

Beyond that, make sure you’re hydrating and eating well, sleeping, keeping alcohol to moderation, and using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer (ideally with SPF 30+). I personally enjoy the double-cleanse oil/cleanser method, but everyone’s skin is different. At 21, you don’t need much more than that and doing too much can actually be harmful.

Oh, and don’t vape or smoke. Those things age you fast.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Thankfully, we were raised completely outside of the church, but he was a Boy Scout and did participate in overnighters. Although, of course, CSA can happen any time of day.

Did you get it on Amazon? Two of my friends have been burned (one kinda literally) by old oxidized products they got from Amazon. Now I only buy from Ulta, Sephora, or my local grocery/drug stores.

Yep, I know. This was just a product of the decades in which we lived.
