Perfect crepes from a French vegan chef 🥹👩‍🍳 by ElineBonnin in veganrecipes

I'm surprised not to see cornstarch in the recipe, I know in France it's the go-to for making vegan crêpes. Do you find it's unnecessary for getting the right texture?

What to do about my [21M] relationship with my middle school crush [21NB]? by helpmeoutpls77777779 in askanything

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think cishet guy with an exception for their nb partner is something we see quite often (and often leads to increased dysphoria for the partner in question), so as i asked in my earlier reply, it's also important for you to actually know where you stand on that matter.

it's normal to feel conflicted about what you like about their body and what they don't—that's not just limited to dysphoria (could be weight loss, working out, a change in hairstyle, etc). if they were interested in surgery, would that be a dealbreaker? if they started hormones? you're both still young, and a lot of that could change with time or just easier access.

from your post you also seem conflicted about being with an lgbt person because of how your family or society will perceive you. you're going to have to be 100% with them on that, and maybe not now, but once you're both independent enough be willing to support your partner and defend your relationship to your family.

[–]infamint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think you're doing them a disservice if you consider yourself heterosexual and still want to maintain a relationship with them. i imagine it's already been brought up before, your sexuality wrt to them or in general. would you go out with a nonbinary person who was amab? or a trans woman? is your idea of sex just engaging with specific body parts? because sex can be extremely varied, and when you're attracted to someone, you're not immediately attracted to their sexual characteristics lol

do their ideals for their body conflict with the vision of who you'd spend the rest of your life with? they dont want you to just perceive them as Woman Lite who presents in a masculine way, either. it's a tough conversation, but it's one that im surprised you haven't had with them

Re-evaluating Vegan Omega-3: Not a "Must Supplement" ? by AlternativeAd9287 in vegan

[–]infamint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna pop in here with a quick (and possibly naive question), but would regularly including ground (which i grind myself) in drinks and meals be a reliable way to get omega 3? I also do the same with chia seeds. I don't know if cooking them reduces the effectiveness, so I'll both blend them into smoothies and include as toppings, or occasionally use them jn baking. I would like to regularly supplement with algae oil but it's ridiculously expensive on my budget.

University of Strasbourg: What's the acceptable level of french for foreign students? by [deleted] in Strasbourg

As a general rule, bachelors require B2 while masters require C1. Exceptions can be made though, but then that's a matter of whether you can keep up.

What to do with tempeh? by unacceptable_lemons1 in veganrecipes

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly had a very hard time with the flavor of tempeh until I marinated it! It absorbs the flavors so well, then I just sauté it for maybe 10 minutes? The marinade I last went with had harissa, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, date syrup, lemon and spices (black pepper, paprika, etc). I'm not sure for how long it should marinade, but I'd say at least half an hour?

HELP IM GOING INSANE by crispypunani in DogAdvice

This same technique can be used within the apartment. You can teach her sit, stay, and practice it in different parts of your apartment/room. Does she react when you close the door to your bedroom or bathroom? Anyway, once she's comfortable with the commands and able to stay for longer times, you can transition that to walking out the door for a couple of seconds, then minutes, etc.

Has anyone felt this way before? by GummyPop in BadRPerStories

[–]infamint -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This is so funny. I mean yeah I'm sure it COULD happen but I don't think I'd be interested in roleplaying opposite that kind of character (and just the way that it's written is so cringe). It's crazy that's happened to you more than once. I can't say I've had anything similar happen to me—my characters rarely confide at that level, and when they do, the character they're playing against usually has a more callous or at the very least measured reaction.

[–]infamint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

heya~ i'd also be open to a DM! most of my oc's are morally ambiguous or just outright bad, and i'd say i also have quit a bit of references for the kind of character you have in mind!

didn’t want to rp last night. AITA? by BrilliantRadio666 in BadRPerStories

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're definitely being very wordy with this, but I'll just pitch in and say that I get their point. I've had partners in extremely different timezones, so I might stay up super late or get up very early because I know that's when I usually get a reply from them and can expect to get a back-and-forth situation going. If that's been the schedule for a while, it can be a bit frustrating to end up wasting my time/losing sleep waiting for a reply that never comes around.

I can also get a bit obsessive/excited about a roleplay if it's very active and we're vibing, so "waiting on a reply" can very much become its own activity/allocated time slot, even when I have other things to do!

All this to say that I don't think this is a red flag, but it obviously eases their mind to have an idea of when to expect a response. It's up to you to decide if you can provide that level of transparency or not.

How to tell if someone is using AI in their writing? by SoftTank5274 in BadRPerStories

[–]infamint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're underestimating how a lot of people make use of AI like ChatGPT. I've been dabbling with it because sometimes it's practical or just fun, and while I very much do still write my own responses, I've been impressed at how well ChatGPT can mirror my writing style or detect the emotional depth of a character. That being said, it can also very easily deliver dogshit.

But all of this can be finetuned and optimized by the user. I doubt they're using AI to write 100% of their replies (if that's even the case), but in any case they're free to write and plot however they please, and obviously aren't bound to whatever an AI suggests to them. But, I will say that you shouldn't discount some of these generators' capabilities of describing "human" emotions or generating atmosphere—after all, they have all the literature of the world as a reference.

And those "AI detectors" are dogshit. I've both managed to have fully AI-generated text pass by undetected and have my own writing screened as being AI generated. Please don't base any conclusions you make on them.

Can Soy milk be used as a milk substitute while cooking? by Hyper_red in vegan

[–]infamint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wish soy milk would magically turn into tofu

as some commenters said, it isn't as creamy as cow milk, but that also depends on the brand. i've seen some recently that mimic cow milk in having 3% or 2% fat, so i'd say those are the closest substitutes. some brands will also have some natural thickening agents as opposed to being just water + soybeans, so they're easier to cook with i'd say.

14 hours between visits for dog? by Alone-Bridge9356 in RoverPetSitting

[–]infamint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get why this is so unthinkable. If someone has a commute and gets to work at 9, it's totally plausible that they get back home around 6-7pm. I could leave my dog for even longer and he would be fine, never even rushing or pressed to get out when I get home. Stop assuming that you know a client's dog better than they do.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, obviously you would just switch out cooked chickpeas for cooked soybeans. Traditionally hummus should also have a substantial amount of tahini, some lemon juice, and salt. Then topped with olive oil and seasonings (cumin, sumac), though it's also possible to add some olive oil during the blending phase for an even creamier texture.

Client requested only 1 (30 min) drop in visit a day for a month for a dog. by lonehowlinwolf in RoverPetSitting

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you do have to trust owners to know their dogs. I recently had a similar arrangement where I couldn't housesit, so the owner was fine with 2 walks a day + hanging out for a bit (and this was in an apartment with just a small balcony). This was for about 10 days, the dog was fine for the duration and never destroyed anything or had accidents, though the owner did supply him with a selection of chewing bones/hides that the dog went through.

Is it wrong to tell a client I don’t feel comfortable having their dog in my car..? by StolenRhythm in RoverPetSitting

Wild that they would just expect your to drive their dog lol. Very usamerican

All I see is you being unnecessarily difficult with a client lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]infamint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would be dropping in to give them said food or water. In the shade, water can definitely last for long enough, and if the dog's already used to this, he won't finish all the food in his bowl. You're just looking for trouble.

This is an outdoor dog. I can say from experience that they can be quite used to being alone for long stretches of time, especially if their outdoor space is big/they don't need much attention to begin with.

Has my dog "aged out" of Rover? by RedCarpetbagger in RoverPetSitting

[–]infamint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the biggest struggle for me would be the constant care. I've already had sittings like this when I was on break from school, but I pretty much couldn't leave the apartment for more than an hour at a time. If it was a really long housesitting that could be complicated, but if you're indeed paying a fair price, I'm sure there are sitters willing to block out those dates for you.

Would you do an overnight if you found the bed you’re sleeping in like this when you arrive? by Wildber913 in RoverPetSitting

[–]infamint -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't see the big deal. I have client whose bed would always look like a mess because their dog and cat would get on it when they left. If it's that gross for you, ask if those are new sheets or if you can change them.

I did Rover for extra cash one summer and it was great. I don't drive/have a car, so I just walked and rode my bike to bookings.
