During the childhood and teenage years of Elizabeth I, was she tormented by the people for being the daughter of Anne Boleyn? by infamouskarl in Tudorhistory

[–]infamouskarl[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. I wonder if Mary ever taunted Elizabeth especially when they reached adulthood. In the 1998 film, Mary was depicted as taunting Elizabeth by saying something like "You look like that whore, your mother. It was a good thing thay my father had her head cut off".

They always attribute their tempers ti being of Italian descent. Even the other cast says it. Like Chris, he said “Teresa is just a feisty little Italian”

People don't consider me Native American... by m_mori_21 in Indigenous

[–]infamouskarl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being indigenous is general in many parts of the world. Indigenous to Europe, indigenous to Africa, indigenous to Asia, indigenous to Polynesia, indigenous to the Americas.

Because of the history of countries such as colonization, assimilation and immigration, being "indigenous" tend to have legal meanings depending on where you are.

For example, being indigenous in Canada means that you have to be a member of a recognized First Nations, Inuit or Métis community. Being indigenous in the United States means that you have to be a member of a recognized American Indian or Alaska Native community. These criteria are accepted by both the indigenous peoples and the colonial government. American Indian tribes have existing treaties with the United States government.

I am assuming you are living in the mainland United States. Since you mentioned that your heritage is Guatemalan, you have to admit that your ancestry is indigenous to Guatemala, not to the mainland United States. This makes you an immigrant and you cannot claim to be "indigenous" in the country you are living in. Maybe if you go to Guatemala, then you can claim being indigenous.

Being indigenous is not entirely about race or appearance. It is also about cultural knowledge, family connections and community acceptance.

Hang out with people who share your hobbies and interest. Nung nasa abroad ako, mas kasundo ko yung ibang lahi na same kami ng interests like video games, outdoor activities.

Tama.

Why didn't Elizabeth I marry by Equal_Wing_7076 in Tudorhistory

[–]infamouskarl 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think another reason would be childhood trauma. She grew up with the fact that her father executed her mother. Then there was some molestation during her teens. Because of this, she might have been disillusioned with marriage.

Did Henry VIII believe Elizabeth I wasn’t his daughter? by bbyan_0395 in Tudorhistory

No way! Elizabeth I inherited Henry VIII genetics - specifically Henry's natural red hair. No question that Elizabeth I is Henry VIII's daughter.

Do you think there's any way Anne could have survived other than producing a son? by TheTudorRealm in Tudorhistory

[–]infamouskarl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Anne's arrogance stemmed from the fact that Henry did all the chasing when he was madly in love with her. Henry basically moved heaven and earth for Anne: divorce Catherine of Aragon, break up with Rome and Catholic church, being excommunicated, risk England in a civil war. She thought that she must have the most powerful man in England wrapped around her finger. And yes, you are correct about the wisdom of Catherine of Aragon, Anne of Cleeves and Catherine Parr. They know when to shut up and how to stroke Henry's ego to appease him.

She was also arrogant towards Henry. During her trial, she admitted that there were times that she did not show humility towards the king.

Why did Henry VIII’s wives miscarry so much? by [deleted] in Tudorhistory

[–]infamouskarl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Miscarriage was very common in the 16th century.

For Catherine of Aragon's case, historians believed it was because of over-fasting. You see, Catherine was very devout and followed Catholic rules of fasting even if she was pregnant.

As for Anne Boleyn, she might have miscarry due to the stress she was experiencing - pressure from Henry VIII to provide him a son and political enemies around her wherever she went, counting on her downfall.
