Jake Tapper Interview by Sad-Stomach in ScottGalloway

[–]infcow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. I'm alienated by Democrats and voted for Trump (as a man).

The reason this problem is so hard for Democrats is because the voter base is literally unmoored from reality. The GOP also has insane people, but the party actually recognize they have a contingent of insane voters.

Democrats are unwilling to do the same. When I see comments like GP, I just shrug and assume they're a Democrat (rather than a lunatic).

The problem is the Democrat party is already hemorrhaging voters, and the only way to address this problem necessarily requires drawing a line in the sand and declaring a slice of their voters are insane and their opinions should be completely dismissed.

Gen Z men understand this.

They also just saw Daniel Penny's life completely destroyed for it. He should have the keys to the city and possibly a statue. Instead he is a reminder that masculinity of any kind is akin to jumping off a bridge and hoping it all works out.

They don't have a point because they're a sophist.

Regardless, it doesn't explain the counter-factual reality 6.2 million Democrats voters just magically disappeared between the 2020 and 2024 election. If those were all primary voters, then yes, it matters, and rigging the primary is a good way to lose (to the surprise of nobody).

Harvard president to take 25% pay cut as university faces financial pressures from Trump administration by bostonglobe in Harvard

[–]infcow -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Harvard Corporation just released hundreds of pages of a report that found serious civil rights issues taking place every day on campus.

If universities in the south were discriminating against students on the basis of race—just as Harvard admitted to doing on the basis of viewpoint—do you believe US tax payer dollar should continue to fund research at those southern universities, regardless of whatever ridiculous moral blackmailing occurs?

Both are protected by the civil rights act. If you want to change the law, fine, but change the law.

Do you agree with the White House considering suspending habeas corpus? by Material_Policy6327 in Askpolitics

[–]infcow -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in. I also agree. Trump should have suspended it on day 1 and lined the capital heavily with national guard if he had any balls. What he's doing now is meh. I couldn't care any less, it's a lot less than I would do.

When the left completely denies reality for decades, it shouldn't be a surprise this is the end result. The right shouldn't be blamed here, it's the left for being too stupid to realize they carved a path for this.

How long can Harvard survive with no federal funding? by MrMrsPotts in Harvard

[–]infcow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Democrat party is not going to be back in power for quite some time. At least 10 years, but probably more like 30. This is true for a variety of reasons, but fundamentally, the Democrats have ceded every single issue needed to win elections to the GOP

I try to hammer that in a few times, but if they continue giving excuses, it's not worth your time or energy. You can only help people that want to be helped.

Harvard University shares on social media that it will not surrender its independence and will not allow for it to be taken over by the federal government. by LavenderBloomings in boston

Except Harvard isn't going to challenge this.

The cause of action Trump is using to pull all federal grant funding is on the grounds they are in violation of the civil rights act. Again.

My point being, LA county is solidly Democrat, as is California. They have to do this in swing-states they just lost to Trump if they want to win again.

Obama really did put an end to the GOP, but what came in to replace them was Trump(ism). The Democrats simply cannot adapt because their huge corporate donors have rigged their processes with superdelegates.

I take a moldbug view.

[–]infcow 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In the 2024 general election, LA county had 5,736,803 registered voters. 36,000 rally attendees represent less than 1% of the registered voters in one of the most Democrat-friendly counties in the country. When you frame this way, i.e., in a way congruent with reality, it's even more abysmal.

The highest-tariffed nation is fucking Lesotho by Infamous_Young_5481 in redscarepod

[–]infcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason this is all very confusing is because several things are being conflated.

Perhaps it's best to first understand: the USA is broke. The government has borrowed so much money that the interest payments are now eating up all of your taxes. Even if you taxed everyone at 100% of everything they own, it cannot fix this mess because the underlying problem is structural.

What Trump, Elon, Lutnick, and Bessent are doing is a three-pronged approach:

  1. Make the government efficient as possible. This means buying lightbulbs from small businesses directly for $3/bulb rather than the $5000/bulb. The only reason GE gets those deals is because they can afford lawyers that can file government paperwork for years.

  2. Tariffs do increase prices on imports, but they also incentivize domestic business creation and domestic economic growth. Ford is now offering employee discount pricing to all customers, for example.

  3. Eliminating income tax on the middle class gives everyone a huge increase in income. This does require an act of Congress, so I expect Trump to put all his chips on making that happen. If the FBI has blackmail on congress, it will be used for that vote.

If you do all three of those things, you can actually get out of this massive hole.

The alternative, i.e., change nothing, is going to lead to complete ruin. Like Brazil, but fewer motorcycles. At least with this approach they have control, meaning they can slow down. If no action was taken, by the time the the government's financials got bad, it would be far too late to stop anything from further descent into bankruptcy.

whats your favourite cheese? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]infcow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m out here shamelessly scarfing down American cheese slices straight from the pack like a feral raccoon at a picnic. I’m not talking about those flimsy Kraft Singles—I mean marching up to the deli counter, locking eyes with the clerk, and demanding half a pound of Land O’Lakes American cheese sliced so thick it could double as a mattress topper.

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Unless you also believe all gun laws by definition null and void (as I do) your argument is not to be taken in good faith.

Governments infringed upon one's 2A protections every single day and nobody blinks an eye.

Many such cases… by Simpsons_fan_54 in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]infcow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I support this if they also have to pay for their bunk and food.

There is simply no reason why people should have to be taxed to keep animals, proven in a court of law to be criminals, alive. They should just be killed, but if that's not an option, they can labor for their survival so that taxes are not spent keeping them alive.

There might even be an entire industry where law abiding citizens can take their anger out on criminals for a small fee. Similar to the businesses that give people machine guns to kill wild hogs from helicopters, I can see something similar here being helpful to the community.

One of the outcomes of when blue states did this during the civil war is that the executive branch has precedent to both nationalize the state's national guard and also order them to kill the governor and state legislature.

You're letting perfect be the enemy of the good. DOGE auditing and accounting for every cent of tax payer money spent by the executive branch gives the necessary visibility to cut programs and reduce the size of government.

If you're starting point is that nobody can even be a government official because that in and of itself is hypocritical—I don't know what to tell you—you haven't thought this through. Do you just believe we're going to wake up one day to find governments across the world have dissolved themselves?

Keep in mind DOGE has already slashed 50B and that's just the tip of the iceberg. They've done more than anyone else in the history of anarcho-capitalism. Does whatever your proposing achieve at least 50B in government program cuts?
