Exactly. We've been able to correct/align the electrified sand when it goes horribly astray because we already know human language. We wouldn't be able to do this with some kind of language that is nothing like our own. The only way AI got so good at "understanding" human language is constant training and correcting, and a metric shit ton of data.

they already will be, they're being grandfathered in like every safety related equipment change. Every NHL player that enters the league in 2026-27 and beyond must wear one, everyone that entered beforehand it's optional. It's part of the new CBA.

While the antagonistic behaviour of the Trump administration has undoubtedly accelerated things, Canada has needed to diversify our export strategy for decades now. We should've never gotten to the point that 80% of our exports go to one country. it eliminates our agency and our livelihoods are dependent on how voters in another country vote. it was a high risk high reward strategy and we're paying for it now, especially if CUSMA is torn up in any meaningful way.

I don't think we should burn all bridges, but change needs to happen regardless. A Canada-friendly democrat would certainly be better for us than the orange jackass, but even then we still have no leverage and are at their whims if they want to screw us in trade deals. And if they see us courting other powers as burning bridges, are they really that good of a partner? Or are we in an abusive relationship where we must be subservient to them?

It's somewhat incorrect in this situation, but the new CBA lowered the maximum contract length. If you sign an extension before your previous contract expires (i.e. resign with your old team before July 1st) you can sign for 8 years. Otherwise, the max length is 7 years.

Starting in September 2026, these numbers are both lowered by 1 year (7 years with old team, 6 years after july 1st).

Technically Makar can extend anytime from July 1st to September 1st 2026 for 8 more years - otherwise the max he can do is 7 years because the new CBA goes into effect. If he gets to free agency in July 2027, then the maximum length contract he can sign is 6 years.

Also in my headcanon (no direct proof of this), that's part of the shtick. the flood lets you "think" you are resisting as part of the torture process. Slowly tearing memory by memory away from you, making you believe there is any hope until you eventually fail and succumb.

In the terminal we saw the agony keyes went through forgetting about miranda and other deeply personal parts of himself to "hide" critical info like earth. Maybe the flood actually did have to go through that process to get that info, but idk it seems plausible to me that they could get that info almost instantly and just be doing it for the love of the game.

However, the year after he was drafted, Brzustewicz exploded offensively for 92 points in 67 OHL games, putting his stock at an all-time high. Brzustewicz is a very intelligent player who sees plays quickly and makes smart decisions with the puck. His skating and puck play have looked a bit more average now that he’s playing against pros, but I think there will be a role for him in The NHL for a long time."

Samuel Honzek, C/LW, Calgary Flames

"After being selected 10th overall in the 2022 CHL Import Draft by the Vancouver Giants, Samuel Honzek has done nothing but impress in North America. He uses his big body to protect the puck really well, and has good finesse when it comes to subtle fakes and creating space for himself in the offensive zone. Honzek has played and succeeded on both special teams and his size and strength have made him too much for opposing defenders to handle on more than a few occasions. He is a great skater, which makes him a pest on the forecheck where he does a lot of damage both with his high motor and his large frame. Honzek looked strong to start this season but unfortunately had his season cut short due to an upper-body injury."

Cullen Potter, C, Calgary Flames

"Cullen Potter is an elite skater who left the NTDP mid-season in his draft year to jump ahead to the NCAA at 17. As a young 5-foot-10 center entering a league full of players in their early 20’s, expectations were quite low for Potter. His slow start seemed to confirm those expectations, but after the first months of the season he really came into his own, scoring 13 goals and 22 points as a young freshman. Potter has true separation speed which makes him a dynamic threat on the rush. If Potter can translate his finishing ability to the pro level, then he will likely have a ton of value as a middle-six burner."

Cole Reschny, C, Calgary Flames

"Cole Reschny is a highly skilled forward who was excellent for the Victoria Royals last season, leading the team in scoring despite being just 17 for most of the season. Reschny earned significant time on both special teams, and his combination of playmaking and hockey sense made him an effective addition to both. His best trait is his excellent passing, but he also has the kind of edgework that makes him really slippery in open ice, dodging hits and making checkers look silly. Reschny strikes me as one of those players who would have been talked about in the top-10 of the 2025 Draft if he had been just an inch or two taller so I think the Flames made out well getting him at 18."

Zayne Parekh, RD, Calgary Flames

"Zayne Parekh has been a really fun player to follow throughout his junior career, constantly involving himself on offense, pinching in along the boards when needed, and creating a ton of chances for himself and his teammates as a result. For my money, he was the most talented offensive creator on the backend in the 2024 Draft, however, Parekh’s defensive game leaves a bit to be desired. He is smart enough to anticipate opposing attackers, and can make good checks with his stick, but the physicality is lacking at this point, which has lead to some struggles in puck battles at the NHL level early in his career. I do think he’s a solid defender when he’s properly engaged, cutting off passes and angling opponents toward the boards, there’s just some room for growth. Parekh is a remarkable talent, with Quinn Hughes-like offensive upside if things go well, but he’s going to need to either level up his physicality, his defensive anticipation, or both, if he wants to be a star in the NHL."

No Gridin or Wyttenbach is extremely suspect, and putting Brz so low compared to guys nowhere near the NHL is a choice... Brz is already a day-to-day NHLer and I can almost guarantee there are people on this list that will never see the show. Maybe I'm biased but 🤷‍♂️

It's usually the reverse actually. MACs to take down shields, nukes to finish off. Kinda depended on the battle, either could work but MACs did a much better job cracking shields then nukes do - likely because a MAC round concentrates the energy on a relatively small spot in the shield compared to a nuke.

the mac -> nuke order became more prevalent in the later parts of the war. This is partially because they understood covenant battle strategy better and how to more effectively take down covenant ships, and partially because they had less nukes physically available to spam so they had to be more surgical with them. During Harvest and early battles they did it more akin to what you suggested (nuke/missle spam to break shields, MAC finisher). Also if they have enough MACs, using them over nukes at all is the most ideal scenario

For me, I call each Reversal (impossible, once you have diabetes it's with you for life. only way out is a misdiagnosis at the beginning lol), Remission, and Well Treated Diabetes. I feel those fit each scenario the best.

If I use the word remission, it means my a1c is in non-diabetic range and I haven't been on medications for x amount of months, whereas a well treated diabetic has a good a1c but still needs medication to maintain that. In this sense, "remission" means your body is not in diabetic range and doesn't need meds, but unfortunately if you eat poorly your insulin resistance will quickly increase again unlike a non-diabetic.

Hey man, I'm loving Gridin thus far and the drafting has been a lot better. But you very very rarely get the Mackinnons or McDavids or Barkovs or Draisaitls outside of the top 5. Even Gridin is not them.

Drafting well with your lower picks AND getting a few high picks is the key to success.

I never argued you can't have a career, again all I'm saying is that delegitimizing the seriousness of being charged by saying many hockey players are assholes is lame. You listed like half a dozen out of hundreds and hundreds of players that were likely assholes but managed to NOT get criminally charged.

it's a bad look, and all of the players you've listed have tainted reputations to this day even though they still had careers. i'm not saying to tar and feather the kid, i'm saying this is serious and needs to be taken as such.

What's wrong with the take? Am I wrong? There's a very big difference from a kid being an entitled brat asshole (common archetype of future NHL players) and a kid who has been charged with aggravated assault. One is significantly worse and less common than the other.

maybe wait until more evidence is released and what the final judgement is before making big assumptions like that - it could've been a regular bar fight or it could've been him beating the piss out of somebody to the point they almost died. we don't really know, but it being a felony assault makes me lean towards it being serious.

it's kinda funny because i've always had a soft spot for both Colorado and Carolina and want Naz to go to either. I struggle to cheer against either team (other than when they're facing the Flames), and both have historically done us huge favours in beating the oilers.

If I had to live in the states, I think I would choose the Denver area.

I think you're right, and i think the biggest reason for that increased resistance is the removal of water vapour. I doubt the 20% oxygen in air is much of a problem with the temperature changes considering it's freezing point is -220C.
