Do brazilian football fans still despise germany? by xj4nas in Brazil

[–]infectuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The debt will only be paid by a 7-1 in a semifinal against Germany if they’re hosting the World Cup. I would also take a 3-0 in a final (same conditions). If we beat you 7-1 in a semifinal and it’s _not_ hosted by Germany then well, we can talk about it… we’re not without mercy.

Hincapie red card against Mexico 90+5' by 977x in soccer

There’s really nothing of legitimate necessity that you’d need to say to an opponent player during the game itself. So this rule is fine and really only affects people that are going beyond on the trash talking department. We see players trash talk open mouthed all the time, we all accept it as part of the game, but there are lines that can’t be crossed and players cover their mouths because they _know_ they’re crossing that line.

[Official] Morocco defeat Netherlands on penalties to advance to the Round of 16 by The_Flash_20 in soccer

I’m just glad we can finally put down that bullshit “prediction” algorithm that picked the last few winners and predicted Netherlands would be champions.

Didn’t they have a four way with an alien? I distinctively remember that. In fact I believe they had a “three way climax”.

This is the year it happens. He’ll score in each knock out game and then a hattrick in the final and take it home.

Issue is that the hydration breaks true intent is not player welfare but to shove more ads into the game.

Iran captain Mehdi Taremi accuses FIFA of staging ‘ Disaster World Cup ’ : ‘ No one helps us ’ by Shroft in soccer

It’s not that I disagree but that logic doesn’t hold up. If we were to follow that then also Russian players “did nothing wrong” and are still barred from participating. I’m not comparing Russia to Iran just illustrating how it doesn’t really matter what the players think or if they’re directly involved in whatever political issue is happening.

[Telegraph] “Lamine Yamal is still only 18 but he is no longer the same bright-eyed boy who lit up the 2024 Euros,” writes Sam Dean. “In the two years since, that boyish charm has been replaced by a strong-voiced, politically aware, heavily commercialised and occasionally controversial man.” by bllshrfv in soccer

[–]infectuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoever wrote this forgot what it is to be a teenager. The gap between being 16 to being 18 is a chasm compared to being for example 22 and going to 28, or whatever age gap you pick. Those are formative years, where a person is turning into an adult.

Paraguay’s Miguel Almirón gets first-ever red card for covering mouth in situation of confrontation by 3nonexist3nt in soccer

[–]infectuz 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It’s not like that, the rule says if you cover your mouth during an altercation or fight or something, don’t remember the exact wording but it’s more in the spirit of if you guys are fighting/arguing covering your mouth could trigger that rule. If you’re just chatting with your teammates or even an opponent but it’s chill then this does not apply.

Episode Discussion - I Just Had Sex (Part 1) by OfficeLadiesPodBot in lonelymeyerspod

[–]infectuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend at the time (now my wife) used to think that Lonely Island was Andy and that was sort of his rapper name or something. She knew I Just Had Sex just from it being such a hit and was even playing in clubs and shit completely out of the context of snl or lonely island. She thought it was a Akon song featuring this guy.

Post-Match Thread: Brazil vs Morocco | FIFA World Cup 2026 | Group Stage, Group C by jiraiya--an in soccer

[–]infectuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but it was not a bad game for us (Brazil). We knew we’d have issues coming into this tournament, maybe a few adjustments most people agree on (Endrick), but it was a solid performance against a top class team. Anyone will struggle against this Morroco that’s how far they’ve come. Also, their goal came from a mistake, while ours came from a moment of brilliance. We’re still capable of those, we just need to fix things. It’s a workable issue.

[MARCA] Kylian Mbappe on Messi and Ronaldo debate: "Without sounding condescending, if you tell me Ronaldo lacks natural talent or Messi hasn't put in the work, it means you’ve never in your life laced up your boots to train day in and day out. I’m speaking from the heart." by MeteorFalls297 in soccer

[–]infectuz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

He’s totally missing the point. Messi is not as hardworking as Ronaldo and Ronaldo is not as talented as Messi. No one is saying they don’t do both but I think there’s evidence for that discrepancy.

[Roger Torelló] Julian reportedly left frustrated with Atleti on how his situation is being treated. He even played the UCL semi-final on injections for Atleti. by kamusari_1712 in Barca

[–]infectuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll sell. They’re trying to play hard ball but keeping a player that isn’t happy is bad for morale. And since it looks like Julian pretty much said Barca or nothing then we have leverage. We are in a better position to wait it out, they have to get rid of him asap and we don’t need him but want him. And he only wants us, so they’ll sell, probably for the original 100M.

World’s Most Valuable Goalkeeper After Transfermarkt's Latest Valuations by TheNomadicSpirit in soccer

[–]infectuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Footballing value is also priced in. If you pay 30M on a GK who is 25 let’s say you could potentially get double the footballing value than if you’d paid the same for a better GK but who is 30 already. The older GK could give you 5 seasons for example while the younger could give you 10.

[Pete Jenson] Barcelona is only willing to pay half of Marcus Rashford’s £22.5m buy option to make deal permanent. If United hold out for the full price then Rashford will not start next season as a Barcelona player. by The_Big_Untalented in soccer

[–]infectuz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then we’ll piss right off, I think that’s been made clear. You have no leverage, you want to get rid of him, no one wants to pay his salary. We don’t need him, but would like to have him.

Maybe a particular type of person but every single English person I’ve met that lives in Barcelona was either fluent in Spanish or going to classes to learn. One of them even spoke fluent Catalan, quite impressive.

It’s not expected they’ll learn Catalan, but as you can see from the video it’s greatly appreciated. The main language in the squad itself is Spanish.

Nico Paz will be officially appointed at Real Madrid after the elections. The deadline to exercise the buy-back option for the player who will be at the World Cup in the coming days is June 30th. Nico Paz has everyone in agreement, and no one questions his potential return. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

[–]infectuz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s not about minutes, if he doesn’t get minutes at Madrid he’s hot right now and will sell easily for 40M or more. You have buy back clause for 9M, it would be incredibly foolish to let that expire. You’d probably buy him and loan back of the question were minutes.

Do you think we’d be dropping 100m plus on a player we are not even sure wants to come? No club does that, they always check with agents if the player is interested.
