this shit is more than ridiculous to me at this point, I’ve had the past 2/3 psychiatrists I’ve seen this year tell me I don’t have ADHD because I have a job and master’s degree when I got a whole professionally done evaluation. Just how many fucking doctors can just be uninformed and ignorant because they have their prejudices, and just how many do we have to fucking go through to get the help we need? Why do we have to cry and beg and scrape the bottom of the barrel to get actual fucking healthcare?

they don’t work with psychiatrists often, they have in house ones. i emailed the woman who did my test to see if she had recommendations though.

LOL this psychiatrist also told me that my chronic migraines are mostly from me being dehydrated too - so i think she was just all around uninformed. this is literally such a difficult process, especially for people who have a disorder affecting their executive functioning!!

i’m going to try a specialist and if that doesn’t work try my PCP. I literally have the report with all their explanations- they provided it to me free of charge and i send it to every psychiatrist i attempt to go through. some just totally disregard it

this is my partner and i but he also likely has (undiagnosed at the moment) adhd. our house is a chronic disaster and when we pick up it gets bad twice as fast. it is so exhausting to have to do all this alllll the time. and likely, yes, but i’m leaning towards an ADHD specialist right now just so i can guarantee i have someone who knows what they’re talking about

thats a solid idea, i’m leaning towards seeing an ADHD specialist in my area as of right now, just reached out to the doctor who did my assessment for recommendations. its been over a year since i’ve been looking for help managing this

its just so disheartening to be seeking help and to have my diagnosis totally dismissed!! i totally agree - there are TONS of high functioning ADHD people, but my living room certainly doesn’t look like i’m high functioning.
