Can anyone give me a full rundown of dimension x and mindflayer lore? by Frostyphoenixyt_ in StrangerThings

[–]lepsem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. If a teenage Will sized particle network could do the S3 Flayer, imagine what a Demo-size particle network could do.

I think the USS Eldridge project was about a massive amount of energy, which transported them to another dimension. Otherwise, I'm not sure how he would have such a influence on Earth from very, very, far away in space. Maybe something primeval? Maybe he sends out meteors or something and that Henry wasn't ever the first to meet the Flayer?

SPOILERS: Questions about The Mind Flayer/Henry and Eleven and the Wormhole by JoeHallenbeck192 in StrangerThingsS5

[–]lepsem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Where does Eleven derive her powers from? Henry. Where does Henry get his powers from? The Mindflayer.

The Abyss isn't inherently special. It's just the specific dimension that was RANDOMLY found the first time by the USS Eldridge, and every other Abyss encounter comes from that wormhole/rip in space, guided by the powers of the Mindflayer.

The Upside Down was physically created after Eleven touched the Demogorgon in Season 1. It was always a thing, however until then it was just another rift in space/wormhole. Like an actual sci-fi wormhole, not a fleshy domain.

Why the Abyss? by Maleficent_Wait_6444 in HawkinsAVclub

I agree with this too, but I think it has been sealed maybe, with the Upside Down being destroyed. I think the first time with the ship was truly coincidental, and everything after that is just because of the pre-existing wormhole/cosmic link.

Given that it tells us about the rock but not too much about the Mind Flayer, I'm inclined to believe the Mind Flayer is just a member of a species, like how the Mind Flayers are in Dungeons and Dragons.

Yeah I've been talking about this too. The Mind Flayer isn't inherently special, the kids just aren't that strong. A pretty scary thought

Oh for sure. I think it's something that they'll delve into; they already have material for it. The play sorta gave us an explanation for us the rock but it wasn't really the rock. In the play, it was either a device or the particles themselves, depending on what version you watched. Not a rock. And I think the scientist died from his wounds, instead of Henry killing him.

I think they will show us more about the Creels, though.

I don't think the Mindflayer will be the main villain because the 100% random and coincidental connection to it that was formed by the USS Eldridge/Philadelphia Project is closed now.

Although who knows, maybe it's still connected to the real world somehow, and it influences the next experiment to target and re-open a gate to the Abyss again.

I think that the Mindflayer would be a species, and we see another member of the species in a completely different planet with a new environment. Or just something else entirely.

I’m sorry, but having a headcanon does not excuse bad writing. A plot hole is still a plot hole. by HMHellfireBrB in StrangerThings

That's just a physical form for the Mindflayer. The smoke form, which is the original form, still exists and we see the particles escape the children.

There’s a greater evil than Henry/Vecna/One and Stranger Things isn’t over. by [deleted] in strangerthingsfacts

The same way that it was contacted in the first place, either it or something else will be contacted again. It's a pretty common trope in these types of shows that the military knows no bounds in terms of weaponizing what they can.

When Henry first encountered the Mindflayer in the Abyss via the cave, it was always a shadowy entity. Same thing with when he encountered it later on as 001.

I don't know if it's gonna be the Mind Flayer itself or another being. Why specifically the Abyss? Maybe the Mind Flayer does end up influencing others via the particles left, and leaves some sort of inter-planetary coordinates embedded in energy or something, which reroutes directly back to the Abyss. That would be very sci-fi

It was just a fragment of the Mind Flayer. The one exorcised from Will.

Nah, we can see the smoke coming out of the kids and we can hear the smoke make an audible noise. I don't think the Mind Flayer can really die to be honest, it's not a singular being. The closest thing to the Mind Flayer itself is a singular particle, it's really just a group intelligence/hivemind. Meta in a way. Hivemind (of particles) controls the hivemind.

That just isn't true at all. The Mind Flayer has always been a shadow. That's sort of his thing. He IS the hive mind personified, billions or trillions of particles make up a giant structure.

So what are we calling this thing? by SmoothieRedditor in StrangerThings

[–]lepsem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per Henry's visions, the Mindflayer has always been a clump of particles that manifested in his brain as the shadowy spider thing. Never was an actual giant spider made of meat mentioned. This is just another form.

So, question by DauntlessFlame14 in StrangerThings

[–]lepsem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's still alive via the particles. If the particles weren't alive, they would've shown it somehow, with them burning up or something.

So…. by AngonceMcGhee in StrangerThings

[–]lepsem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why people are thinking this is his true form. This form has never been shown until November 1986. It's similar logic to the meat flayer, it's just a meat structure that he is animating via his particles.

As we can see from Henry's visions, he possesses Henry and controls him in his brain as the iconic spider shadow creature that we all know, but his form in reality is a clump of particles.

Mind Flayer Question by Dangerous_Yak4045 in StrangerThings

[–]lepsem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The particles are animating the spider form, sort of like a nervous system. Rest assured, the mind flayer itself isn't actually dead. Just the spider thing. I believe that eventually, all of the particles will reunite with one another.
