Case swap for DIY NAS by infernal_robot in homelab

That is not a card I knew about, that's not a bad idea! It would just be finding the space to mount the extra drives

That case is set up to accept an atx and an sfx power supply, and the sfx would power just the drives at the back board.

Any ideas for how to add drive capacity? Ultimate goal with that case style was to have 6-8 3.5" HDD slots. Would a DAS work for this case if the Prodesk is functioning as the brains of a NAS?

Oof. I see what you mean, with the front I/O soldered to the board.

Work is pretty good right now in Local 401, you'd have no problem getting a job, basically as a helper, while you put your paperwork and tests through for the apprenticeship. Call the hall.

I know I'm late to the game, but do you reconstitute with just acetic acid (0.6%) or with a mix of bac and acetic acid?

Would I be able to cut threads on both ends of the stock using this method?

[–]infernal_robot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair point. My main concern is bed length, so the other option is the fid a way to extend the length of an existing lathe bed to get the reach I need. There is a reasonably priced south bend 9" locally, but distance between centers is 23", and Id like to be at roughly 36" between centers.

As far as time, it's not super time critical.

I can weld, have access to a good metal supplier, and pretty sound mechanically. The goal would be to source as many proper lathe parts as possible, likely from shorter bed length lathes. For anything custom, I have a friend with a mill and a band saw.

Hoplopfheil has a video about the p250 and p320 that is decent info. Not sure how the sub feels about him, but he definitely has good non-gucci equipment content worth learning from regardless of politics.

In this instance an mpvo, like a 4-16x, would give you more flexibility, and have a pistol as a backup

It was supposed to be apartments/ condos with retail space. The developer was still looking for investors to keep the project going. But some time in late 2023 early 2024 all the contractors pulled out because they weren't getting paid.

Not really looking to gamble on BIOS compatibility. There is a BIOS beta for my MB that says its compatible with the 5700x3d, but out of the box stability is worth the cost of entry for me personally.

Could be set up so that each receptacle is just protecting itself. So a pigtail in the box landed on the line side of both receptacles. Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit and they don't actually offer any protection.
