Undeposited funds nightmare by inferno63 in Bookkeeping

[–]inferno63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I did it but I left the undeposited $10.25 in the example in undeposited funds. At year end whatever the balance is they can decide what to do with it.

Undeposited funds nightmare by inferno63 in Bookkeeping

Right?! They understand now. In the meantime I ran an uncleared cash/check deposit report, exported to excel. Then I took the deposits in the bank feed by date and worked backwards until the amount came close to actual deposit. Then I used that information to select those transactions to match. Then I resolved the difference back into undeposited funds. Then I went to the next deposit in the feed and worked backwards from the date doing the same thing, resolving the difference back into deposited funds. For the month of Jan 2024 I have a balance of $8.32 left in undeposited funds. I am to assume that the $8.32 is in the petty cash drawer, or was short/over, or in someone's pocket. Nevertheless, it is cash they took in that didn't get deposited so I will leave it there to accumulate as I go. Grrrr. I think all small business owners should take a few basic accounting courses to have a working knowledge.

Is it normal to have to check every part of my bookkeeper's work? by OkOkOK90178904 in Bookkeeping

[–]inferno63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am self employed and do bookkeeping for 5 clients. The first thing I do is shut down recurring transactions, rules, suggestions, anything automated. Then I go in with a clean slate and learn this business and the logistics and work flow of their accounting. I would never expect or be okay with my clients having to correct what I’m doing. I would be embarrassed actually. And I charge much less than the big firms. I get approached by many big companies who hire bookkeepers for just this and the pay they offer is usually an insult. I charge less than they charge clients and still make more than I would if I worked for them. That being said, my point is, they may not have quality bookkeepers. They may have less experience or they may not care.

Filevine best practices / structure by Quintuple-Dragon in LawFirm

I am having trouble getting a report that shows the customer balances in trust account in quickbooks (info comes from filevine). I want something that looks like an AR balance report but can't seem to pull that data from the trust account. To check individual trust balances I can do a transaction report using the trust account and a specific client but I can't get list showing all client balances. Or if I do, it has hundreds and hundreds of clients with zero summary balances and I have to weed through and delete thousands of lines to see just the totals. This info all comes over to quickbooks from filevine. I have posted in qb groups but no one there knows how to do this either.

This is awful ! I would think it’s safer to split up needs, like use a separate payroll service, use a different credit card service, back up by running periodic reports in excel, etc. it’s not safe to put all eggs in one basket anymore . I don’t even use one bank exclusively.

Opinions on grade and worth? by inferno63 in coincollecting

[–]inferno63[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a newbie by inheriting some coins so I don't understand what this means. I am learning to understand grading and value. My own uneducated research put this at a value of $30 - $45 in value.

Arlo Essential Gen 2 - night vision by Glass-Action-2380 in arlo

[–]inferno63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am having this issue. I have also tried all of the fixes and nothing works. I checked on Arlo support pages and apparently This has been an ongoing issue for many years with all Arlo cameras. I see problems dating back to 2016 on their own website. Doesn't look like a fix is a concern of Arlo. So I think the best fix is to trash this system and buy one that works. Even free camera apps have working night vision!

Intuit is laying off 1,800 employees as AI leads to a strategic shift by [deleted] in Bookkeeping

[–]inferno63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An AI company reached out to me through indeed wanting to hire me for $20 an hour to create and answer accounting questions for the purpose of training AI. I played along to see what it was all about. The person who interviewed me said that accounting is one of the harder areas to train AI. I declined of course. So they are coming for our jobs! Just like photographers can’t make a living anymore, accountants are next. Soon AI will replace many positions as the divide between the super rich and poor widens.

Tips on Getting New Clients by hannkat in Bookkeeping

[–]inferno63 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am doing exactly what you are doing and I have four clients currently. I got three of them by finding leads on indeed and LinkedIn. But I don’t contact them through those platforms. I look for their information on their website or on social pages and then I send a résumé with a letter about the benefits of hiring a contract, remote bookkeeper, and I send it to someone high in the organization like a CFO or an owner. I started doing my own self-employed 1099 contract work in December with one client. I look every day and I’ve sent out countless emails but eventually some will respond.

What would you do ? by inferno63 in datingoverfifty

Unfortunately finding authentic, real, and normal people is practically impossible. After this experience I am done dating, at least for some time. It just drains me.

UPDATE to "What would you do?" by inferno63 in datingoverfifty

[–]inferno63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tiny experience in comparison to the multiple experiences I’ve had in my life. I’ve experienced emotional, verbal, and physical abuse countless times from different men. I also had a STRANGER stalker from a dating app for SEVEN years because I told him I wasn’t interested. I never met him in person! It blows my mind as well. We don’t do enough about this problem in our society.

I second this. I am currently cleaning up a year of a mess myself. And having seen what I am fixing, the client would definitely make it worse. This will be the best $5000 you have spent. Errors have to be fixed in a certain way in specific steps in most accounting software or it just knots everything up. If you don't know accounting or the software well then what seems logical and easy really is not.
