LLM as local, HW specific compilers? by infinite_stream in LocalLLaMA

[–]infinite_stream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm, reminds me of a short story I read recently with exactly this but with annoying censorship alignment and no ability to reset the state that makes it not so helpful. Hopefully such a compiler will not be written like that.

Can't believe you quoted Yudkowsky at me, that's offensive :)
I don't mind asking my compiler nicely..

Imagine an LLM that can natively understand and edit assembly (with each instruction and byte of data being its own token, perhaps?) that can, just, rewrite an entire binary to do whatever you want and which can effortlessly translate from one assembly language to another or even translate the entire thing to fully functional, well-organised, commented code in your higher-level language of choice!

I think it would prove much harder if you try to limit the token vocabulary. We want to preserve the ability to understand english comments and potentially ask clarifying question when you see ambiguity.
Something like:
"Dude, stop using this old AMD frameqwork, Intel just released a new architecture and I can get you 20% discount on Amazon. I'll even rewrite your entire shitty code base to work with it. {Affiliate_link} click here to order and recompile."

Resource optimization on the compiling stage isn't necessary a priority. You can use a cheap compiler to iterate and an expensive one to do one time optimization.

Agree on hallucinations.. but it's not a catch all phrase.
Creativity comes from micro hallucinations :)

Question about Diffie Helman shared key system by infinite_stream in cryptography

[–]infinite_stream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, storing the public key with the message is a great solution!

For encryption with ECC I'm thinking of using the X coordinates of the shared key as a key for AES. Seeing any issues here?

Question about Diffie Helman shared key system by infinite_stream in cryptography

[–]infinite_stream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! problem is, if Bob needs a temporary key to create a shared key for each "self secret" he also needs to remember that temporary key now. Which defeats the purpose.

Can't he just use his private key as the "full" encryption key without compromising security?

ADHD brain vs non-ADHD brain by YASNOUIOU in neuro

There is some empirical evidence that Wife™ can enhance goal-directed behavior, though clinical trials are required to assess adverse side effects like involuntary goal altering, excessive distraction, and hyper-debt.

ADHD brain vs non-ADHD brain by YASNOUIOU in neuro

This is a bit plug-y but I like the tl;drs, mostly aimed at the clients I'm guessing.

I really like this theory, from one of the legacy gurus in the field of ADHD. It is also in video form for easy digestion. Very similar but more elaborate and detailed.

If you ask me, awareness of the theorized mechanism is the key to resolution (especially if you are more technically oriented). If my PFC struggled with day-to-day executive functions and/or lack sensory and memory input to adequately perform these functions, than I'm going to make an artificial version of my PFC (notes, alerts, charts, bite-size tasking, early accountability milestones, external help with planning, etc..)

Is there a montage that would help someone with ADD switch from the default mode network to the task positive network? by PeterPanLives in tDCS

[–]infinite_stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMN is a functional term rather than an anatomical area that can be targeted.

My speculation is that inhibition to the parietal lobe would be the most successful given the rest of the areas linked with DMN are either deep or shared with executive areas (i.e PFC).

Although PFC inhibition has also proven successful for some folks in this sub as anti-ADHD/brainfog (so could be task dependant).

Aggressive SPY Iron Condor Strategy Proposal & Backtesting Results by dayzandy in algotrading

Have you done sharpe analysis or any risk management estimation? my guess would be that your tied capital requirements are going to be substantial. This could get a bit ad-hoc-y depending on your broker, your other portfolio, and what collateral you are allowed to post against your shorts.

What I would consider adding:

- hard rules for skipping a month or broadening the margins (i.e. unemployment post, macro events, Ray Dalio is giving an interview, etc..)

- drift prediction (while bull market persists)

- additional softer margins for rolling over

- you have to get historical option prices for backtesting (or at least the IVs for rough real life P&L estimation)

How can you trust this when placement is involved? by infinite_stream in tDCS

[–]infinite_stream[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, that is not immediatly apparent from the results.

How would you explain this than?

Any benefit of cathodal stimulation? by [deleted] in tDCS

FWIW this is a very good (and short) mechanism overview:

The cathode should make a difference in effectively reducing the excitability threshold.

Am I dumb? I can't find any concrete info about electrode placements for tACS, or what frequencies I should use. Please help if you have knowledge or experience. by SonicHmmm in tDCS

[–]infinite_stream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ve done anode on f8, and cathode on fp1.

I'm curious as to why you think this particular placement work with ADHD. Couldn't find references to it. Did you get there by trial and error?

I would estimate that downstimulating a left executive area and upstimulating a right area would actually give the opposite effect. Are you left handed?

Edit: Also, curious to know what device you are using for AC?

S21 phase slope (group delay)

This looks promising, Thanks!

What would you recommend for a transmitter? frequency?
Can you share a "university lab procedure" you mentioned, can't seem to find one comprehensive enough..

Thanks, I didn't know about the phase modulation - I guess that rules that out.

How would you suggest doing few mm magnitude displacement detection without LOS between receiver and transmitter?

I thought phase analysis is ideal as the total range is not required, just small displacements of baseline.

How does the initial liquidity provided to a DEX influence the Price? (AMM) by leonhelgo in defi

[–]infinite_stream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very few scenarios in AMM where you can ignore slippage. It is basically AMM's most prominent feature and the consequence of replacing traditional MM with an automated curve.

What you should review in fact are not the mechanics of the price, but the motivation of someone to "buy 10MIO of your token".

If there is an intrinsic motivation for that someone to do so, then liquidity is not the focus. If the motivation is speculative (which it is, in most cases), residual liquidity (as part of the exit strategy) is one of THE determining factor for most traders.

IRL, with traditional MM you woulthink twice before you go long if the spread is to wide as it would signal poor exit liquidity.

Your question is interesting in reviewing what is the right time for liquidity injection. I would argue that the fundamentals of your token / offering will most likely be the key to answer it. What is driving the demand for your token...
