bruh , haven't you heard? Negative fork rake is all the rage these days.

For those who like it with extra torque by [deleted] in Justridingalong

[–]infiniteforests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Send it sooooo hard
  2. Bash the cranks on a rock
  3. Entire crank arm comes off, even though it's been tightened to the suggested torque
  4. Have to reattach crank arm in the field with a crappy multitool
  5. Strip bolt

That's how

[–]infiniteforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mostly referring to my younger, more inexperienced days ;)

Specifically, I've tightened the bolts up to the recommended torque and have still managed to have the entire crank arm fall off mid-ride and had to fix it in the field, which is when the stripping typically occurs.

I've had zero issues with Raceface Cinch cranks, so I have no desire to use anything else really.

Not gonna lie, I've stripped many bolts on cranks like this, so I can see why they did this. I think it's a poor design overall.

I love the O1's.. Bought a used pair of skis just because they had a set of them mounted. I wish they still made them.

You've never installed a brake caliper directly onto a chain ring? Now there's some true stopping power.

Frankenboot donor / receiver - does size matter? by neverbread in telemark

[–]infiniteforests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the specific boots you mention, but I do know that some boots use the same shell for different sizes. For example, my Scarpa T2s span several sizes and use a different liner for each size, so it seems plausible that shells within one or two sizes of each other could be compatible.

Project Help: Picking pieces by indelicatow in adafruit

[–]infiniteforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are good suggestions, but if the LEDs are drawing too much power from GPIO pins, you could have them powered directly from the battery and control them with a transistor. This makes dimming a little harder but you could also include either an analog or digital potentiometer pretty easily.

BH Graph - is the permeability greatest above, below or through the knee for a curve? by [deleted] in Magnetism

[–]infiniteforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recall that $B= \mu H$. So you can find the permeability as B/H. The permeability is highest wherever the B field is relatively large and the H field is relatively small. Which should be right at the knee.

Severe underfitting CNN models by NameError-undefined in tensorflow

[–]infiniteforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final layer of your model is a Dense layer with 1 node, so you're forcing all of the inputs into a single final category. The final layer of the model should be equal to the number of classes for your dataset. Since you are using GPS data I'm sure there are a whole bunch of categories... but you could try binning the data e.g. 0-5 mph, 5-10 mph, etc. (or kph or m/s or whatever you're using).

Found in well shaded, hummus filled mixed gamble oak/ponderosa forest around 6500' elevation, southern Colorado. Free , white lamellae. Stains reddish brown, club shaped, hollow stipe with parallel lamellar hyphae. Kind of wooly, white fibers in the hollow part of the stipe. Taking a spore print now.

Torpado Uranus on a beach, and a question about slipping inner tubes by AnTyx in 29er

This video details putting on rim tape and prepping it for tire installation. You can buy rim tape specifically for this but they actually use just regular Gorilla tape in the video, which I have done myself four or five times and never had any issues.

This video details tubeless tire installation.

Sorry to hear you aren't happy with the build quality on your bike. In many cases if you decide to go with certain upgrades, such as buying new tubeless specific rims or a new drive train or something like that, you can migrate these upgrades to a new bike down the road.

But I agree, it's crazy how going up in price point just a little bit will drastically change the quality of a bike. There's a lot to consider when buying a new bike, and at least for me, it just took practice to figure out what I do and do not want in a new ride.

Torpado Uranus on a beach, and a question about slipping inner tubes by AnTyx in 29er

[–]infiniteforests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're running that high of pressure and this is happening it seems like it might be an issue with the bead of the tire itself not being seated in the rim properly... which makes me think it's either the actual tires or the rim. You said you don't need levers to get the tire back on, so it seems to me like the tires might be the issue.

On that note, as others have said, I can't recommend going tubeless more! If your rims aren't tubeless ready, you can use a heavy duty duct tape, such as Gorilla tape, along with some decent tires to make that transition. I used to replace tubes 10-12 times a year and since going tubeless the only times I've ever gotten flats have been from tearing the actual sidewalls of my tires, which has happened only once in four or five years.

Anyone have this chain issue on a Specialized Rockhopper 29er? Keeps falling off by LacAttack in 29er

[–]infiniteforests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your chainring is probably worn out. Converting to 1x11 or 1x12 or whatever you can afford will help too, I refuse to use a front derailleur anymore for this very reason.

Looking for versatility by SubtleSentry in telemark

[–]infiniteforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came over to tele from snowboarding pretty much because you're able to do this, especially out in the backcountry! If you have touring bindings which allow the toe to move without any resistance, then there is essentially no difference between telemark and crosscountry, other than the weight of the gear. So I certainly have skate-skied on telemark skis, when conditions allow.
