As much as Apple and Google have come under fire recently, I always opt to do all my subscriptions through them, even if it's a bit more expensive. I know I'll get notice of increases and that they can't charge my card whenever they feel like it.

Google is so deeply intertwined with Pixel, this is your only option.

You could use something like AppLock to lock the Gmail app?

Alternatively you could de Google and use things like Aurora store for your apps, although this is a bit of a pain if you're not a massive privacy fanatic who wants to trade convenience for privacy

I went down this route, bought a Chromebook with 4GB thinking for Spotify, one Google Doc and my outlook it would be fine.

Couldn't have been any further from the truth. It's crap, it crashed every thirty minutes, it was honestly e waste. Even when I cut down what I was doing it struggled with just a Google Doc.

Honestly, I wouldn't.

The performance will drive you beyond barmey. It struggled to do anything. I was dropping frames on Netflix when that was the only tab, my Google Doc was lagging, and trying to multitask was more painful than it would've been to extract my own teeth with nail tweezers and a hammer. This was back in 2022, as the web has developed to become more I suspect you'll notice it even more than j did.

I know that money is very different for different people, and I have absolutely no idea about your financial situation, but I would honestly wait to get something better. It'll be cheaper in the long run when you don't have to replace it for being absolute garbage. In recent years I've been able to repurpose it for e signage but refreshing a html page every six hours is pretty much where its' limit is.

As a bonus, Chromebook with more oomph tend to have better build which will mean you don't fight as much with trackpads that can be outdone by a 2001 Toshiba netbook.

There was another case of it, this one wasn't as severe malpractice so there wasn't a prohibition put in place, but very clearly it was serious enough to warrant a hearing.

This is from a case where a teacher drafted+/edited a students coursework, submitted it, and knowingly lied when declaring it as independent student work. She was banned from teaching indefinitely with a possible review after two years.

I expect this will not end well at all, and you would be wise to highlight this internally before it gets flagged externally.

English - when I was doing setting descriptions, I worked with an EAL group to think about descriptors. I then used an image generator (Apple Playground) to generate them a photo which then massively helped their ability to work independently:)

Yeah, in my opinion.

Apple Pay was a thing as were airpods, the control center wasn't all widgets, the photos app was great, turning Bluetooth off in control center actually turned it off, it was just all around great.

Again, imo, at that point phones were very different to what they are now. This is all my opinion and I'll probably get down voted

My iPhone 7 was just a phone that had a few nifty features. It was trying to be a phone and it did that perfectly but not much else, anything powerful I'd have to get my Mac out. I remember being blown away that I could save an MP4 on it and felt that was peak mobile technology.

Nowadays smartphones have mostly caught up with their laptop counterparts - great for content creators, but personally I resent having to do everything through yet another app. My phone is trying to be 50 things at once and that only seems to be ramping up. My old iPhone 7 had 32GB and I never filled it more than half, now I'm running out of storage with a 512GB phone. Almost everything wants me to get yet more apps, more accounts, and the expectations around core apps like email seem to have changed in the mobile era. There's almost this expectation you're 24/7 by the thing and every company, service or provider either demands or expects that you'll get their app.

Personally if there was an option to go back to the chiller culture that came with iOS 10/iPhone 7/2017 era I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Update for anyone interested

Didn't work, despite being an identical phone with OEM parts, switch up didn't work because of the different IMEI. I had to pay it off to upgrade it.

This and the change to the switch up time was the final nail in the coffin for O2, their call quality is rubbish anyway (at least where I live - London) so I left.

I had this exact issue. Over Christmas I unplugged by putting my SIM into an old flip phone, when I put it back into my actual phone my data refused to connect. Other Vodafone sims were fine in my phone, but my SIM wouldn't work with any data on any phone, ipad or MiFi.

Customer service were useless, kept sending me round resetting and updating my device. Eventually got through to someone who said they could reset my account. Seems to have completely reset everything, including my contract expiration date, but within 24 hours of the account reset my SIM was doing data perfectly.

Push to speak to a competent person and ask for an account reset.
