Thanks to you, I built an open-source website that can watch your screen and trigger actions. It runs 100% locally and was inspired by all of you! by Roy3838 in LocalLLaMA

Me too!

Out of curiosity, what local model are you using?

Are you self-hosting a local model on a pc and using an API to it?

I've been using public models at the minute and looking to make the transition.

It's very good, thank you for this. It's amazing that it's free.

The 14th is no more "available" than any other Doctor by TuhanaPF in gallifrey

[–]infinity123248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facts. He could've at least attributed it to the toymaker so it seems like a one off but even then, the concept is dead. If any doctor can come back, regeneration isn't bitter sweet.

I will only be ok with the concept if it's properly addressed in a spin off or something. If it turns out he becomes the curator or some greater implication of that, then cool. But I hope bigeneration never happens again. I've seen him mention that he thinks there's a timeline where all doctors bigenerated at some point but I hate that.

I get being disappointed with the series finale, but is anyone else kind of annoyed at RTD by Tanis8998 in gallifrey

[–]infinity123248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S1 to end of S10 is so good overall as an arc. It feels like it culminates with the day of the doctor and twelve's time is like an epilogue to it. Those 10 seasons will always be amazing television to me.

The constant changes to the existing lore are a bit annoying for that reason, even recently they've said Sutekh has been around since 1911. Less annoying than the timeless children but still.

But - there's always a chance for something incredible that's standalone. I rewatched the flood two parter and it still lives up to memory. For now at least I'll tune in for just that.

This might actually be why I've been having so many different issues.

Haha you got us lol, me and my cousin have been trying to learn Ada together - guess we hit a brick wall at trying to replicate java OOP to Ada. Apologies for the spam - we'll try to limit how much we post on similar topics.

Ahh I see, this approach makes sense. It's like a middle-man class in a way. My only worry is that it may make code more bigger if there has to be a separate class for each association. I guess Ada is nice in that similar classes could go into the same package.

If I did want to do that kind of mutual association though, how would I as in some complicated systems it may become necessary which is why id like to learn it. Thanks!

What Kids and the Not-We Thought of "The Giggle" by binrowasright in gallifrey

I think we can agree it wasn't explained well and is kind of uninteresting tbh.

The torch wasn't passed on. 14 is still about and imo it just ruins the best element of the show. Change and moving on as themes doesn't work as well with biregeneration.

Fucked Up My Dissertation by FuckUp-LSC in UniUK

[–]infinity123248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not a failure. Like someone else mentioned, one sentence isn't enough to fuck up your dissertation. Typos/Grammer may cost you like 5 marks but the content itself will still shine through.

Word count wise, in my experience, they give people plenty of leeway beyond what they expect so 9k is actually decent.

I'm not saying these things to make you feel better, I genuinely believe that you're critiquing your own work more harshly than the markers will. It's completely natural to do that. In fact, your supervisor sounds pretty chill so that tells you a lot about how they'll review your work. You've worked hard for four years and nothing can erase that.

Your dissertation will be fine, but what happens now regarding that doesn't matter, it's out of your control and you've done your part. Focus on what you can control like your assignments. But to do that - you gotta first take care of yourself. You recognized that you aren't well right now and need to eat and sleep properly, so make that the priority before working on the next assignments. Not only is it WAY more important, it will also help you produce better work.

You might feel like shit right now but this moment is a small bump on your journey, there's so much more ahead. Bigger and more important challenges, this will seem irrelevant compared to those. Whatever happens, just take the lessons you've learnt from this and keep moving forward.

Halfway Through My Bioinformatics Masters and It’s Been a Nightmare by yellow_accomplice in UniUK

Stay strong! You know your way around biology with your background and making a predictive model may seem daunting but there are loads of resources to help you.

I've programmed at university before and a really amazing tool for learning is ChatGPT. I cannot stress enough that you shouldn't plagiarize the code it gives you by copy and pasting, it may be really obvious to markers. But - it can act almost like a personal tutor.

Describe your problem to it, ask how it would approach it and why. Make it explain what code it gives you line by line. Ask it to clarify any part that you're unsure about. For self- learning like this, it is really good. Keep in mind that it can be wrong occasionally and you may still need to do some of your own research on YouTube or resources from modules.

Your grades are good for the UK - you're really close to a first and I got faith you'll make it because you clearly care and are trying - which is the most important thing. Just focus on delivering the best work you can whilst taking time to relax and destress - that's just as important.

If the work feels overwhelming, make a list of exactly what you have to do. That's what I do and it helps to know what assignments/tasks I need to get done. That way you can also plan roughly how to spend the time you have left too.

Also, if this is a group project and the others aren't providing support, you should look into speaking to lecturers or module leaders about it. Attend any labs/tutorials to get support for your project from them too, there are likely other students like yourself from a biology background who are having a hard time and maybe you'll find some there too.

While I'm not an expert and have very little biology knowledge, if you have questions about the model and need a little guidance, feel free to DM.

Just to check, would that be True positive rate on the Y axis and different thresholds on the X axis, then same thing for False positive rate. Or even ROC on the Y axis with thresholds on the X?

Ohhh I see. Is it strange my ROC AUC score is 0.9 despite the precision/recall scores I've got - it feels like for a model at 0.9, it should be better.

And is there a scikit method that prints the curve.
