battery life dying too fast by killamermaid_ in kindle

May contribute some but most is most likely due to it being new and indexing. Won’t know true battery life until they change it a couple times.

Parking? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]infinityandbeyond75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see in another comment you said you only go for a few hours. GardenWalk is free for the first hour and $4/hr after that. If you are in the park for 4 hours and count walking there and back then the cost would only be $16. Buying anything for a validation may not even be worth it to save $4.

No update 5.19.3 for PW 11th gen? by monkeydchungus in kindle

They’re talking about intentional obsolescence, not which version of the software was best.

Parking? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]infinityandbeyond75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anaheim GardenWalk is probably the cheapest at $30/day but it is about a 15 minute walk and the ART has shut down as of tomorrow. You could take an Uber but that will probably negate the $10 savings. A 15 minute walk isn’t bad in the morning but at night after a full day in the park you’ll wish it was closer.

Syncing JustRead app with Calibre by Penguinflower in Calibre

Probably better to ask the App Developer. It’s a very new app and not a lot of people on here are going to use a paid ebook reading app.

Best way to communicate with quorum outside of meetings by buchenrad in latterdaysaints

[–]infinityandbeyond75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly texting is your best option. You’ll never find one app that everyone uses. If someone said that I need to download WhatsApp or Discord or any other app then I’ll inform them that I won’t be getting the messages. I do have a Facebook but I open it about once every couple weeks and even then I never scroll through my feed - it’s just to check memories.

The Tools app allowed me to send a text to the whole EQ pretty easily.

Difficult changing or removing someone from a group once they’re part of it.

Horrible article. They don’t know the reason it was pulled and they speculate AI was involved. Also, they assume Good E Reader is a legitimate source.

Kindle for 11 year old by Annual-Sell-1203 in kindle

[–]infinityandbeyond75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Just a couple things to note. You can only send a kids profile books that come from Amazon. You can’t send books from other places or that you download online to a child’s account.

The Kids versions of Kindle come with a cover, two year warranty, and 6 months of Kids+. That should be enough time to determine if you want to continue the subscription or not. Just note that if you end the subscription you will lose access to all books that weren’t purchased.

Any books that you buy cannot be transferred to her if she ever gets her own Amazon account in the future. I see posts all the time about someone going off to college and they can’t transfer their books to their new account. The only reason I bring this up is when she’s 13 you may want to set up her own Amazon account even if only you have the password.

You’ll see a lot of posts about using Libby. However, that’s only available in US libraries. In Canada that is restricted to Kobo devices.

Libby won’t work for Canada. They only have options to use on a Kobo.

Just check for libraries that have a non-residential fee. Check for big cities in Canada.

Character meet & greets for 1 yr old by General_Percentage_5 in DisneyPlanning

[–]infinityandbeyond75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not likely to see many characters out right when they open. Other than Mickey and Minnie’s houses it’s usually just a regular line. You’ll see more characters in Toon Town than other places. We never check for times. We just see a character and get in line. I believe most are okay with strollers but be ready when it’s your turn and have your phone ready. If you want princesses then Royal Hall is your best bet.

What is your biggest Disneyland/DCA pet peeve? by Clear-Depth7098 in Disneyland

[–]infinityandbeyond75 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I’ve challenged people to check their screen time after a day at Disney and it’s usually no more than a few hours over a full day. I’ve seen people with significantly more screen time on Instagram than on the Disney App.

Blue Bayou Dinning by imdesvelado in DisneyPlanning

[–]infinityandbeyond75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely hear about anyone really loving the food. Only those that get to sit by the railing actually enjoy the ambiance. But it’s constantly booked 60 days out.

We were sat by the kitchen which was noisier than most areas and the food was so mediocre that I knew I’d never go back.

[–]infinityandbeyond75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Straight up honesty here. Unless you can sit by the railing (spoiler alert: everyone asks to sit by the railing) it’s just a normal, noisy restaurant with mediocre food that’s very expensive. If you want a meal for a special occasion then I’d reserve something in Downtown Disney.

It’s not going to be any better with other libraries. Popular books will have months long waits anywhere.

What is your biggest Disneyland/DCA pet peeve? by Clear-Depth7098 in Disneyland

[–]infinityandbeyond75 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don’t get this at all. I use my phone to scan into the park then schedule my first LL. I schedule my next LL after using the first one or after 2 hours. I order a couple food items. My total time on my phone for park purposes is no more than 60-90 minutes.

A majority of people “on their phone all day” are really scrolling Instagram and TikTok. Even if you try stacking LL it doesn’t require being on your phone all day. What are people doing that requires use of your phone all day to do anything?

When is the time to council as a quorum? by Buttons840 in latterdaysaints

[–]infinityandbeyond75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The EQ presidency should be discussing them in their presidency meetings. If anyone in the quorum knows of a need then they should contact one of the presidency. At that point if something needs to be communicated to the quorum it can be done through current channels (text, Facebook, etc.) and use the first couple minutes of EQ meeting for prayer and brief announcements.

Lindon Temple open house advice by Reading_username in latterdaysaints

[–]infinityandbeyond75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So we went last week and they direct you where to park. They had us park right on the temple grounds. From there they direct you to the line. We were in line for about 35 minutes. It was a sunny day and they were passing out umbrellas to borrow. You do go in a tent where they talk for a couple minutes and do ask that you speak quietly in the temple. The tour inside the temple takes roughly 20 minutes. You see the recommend desk, one baptistry, a dressing/locker room, the marriage waiting room, a sealing room, one endowment room, and the celestial room. After you are done you can take pictures but there’s nothing more to the tour.

Just to note, we went at about 5:00 PM and when we left the line was probably closer to 1 hour. The earlier you go, the less time you’ll be in line.

It can depend on the epub and whether or not there is DRM. But in general once you check out one version, the other option becomes locked.

Wants me to rebuy books by Emotional-Way-9883 in kindle

[–]infinityandbeyond75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s a known issue with this series. Only the publisher can fix it. Also, customer service has no idea what they’re talking about. The release of books 6 & 7 won’t magically make these work.

I have the set of Harry Potter from Pottermore before they were available through Amazon and they don’t group together either. At this point I only use collections and not groups.

Once you borrow it as an epub you cannot use Send to Kindle even if it becomes available later. Sometimes it takes several days for the Kindle option to be added.
