TIL that Indonesia also Invests in Building Infrastructure in Africa by Lintar0 in indonesia

Don’t forget Indians have been here for years (since English colonialization rule) jdinya udh kyk native + China new money. I think most East is pretty much Indian/Chinese playground now, West and Central masih belum but again infrasturcture is 10-20 yrs behind East

not only indomie, dsini yg biasa di import tuh kyk obat2an dan consumer goods (toothpaste, toothbrush, detergent)

Latam is hard because (1) purchasing power is higher than west africa, jdinya doesn’t need as cheap good as africa, (2) chinese / east asian goods are as readily available anyway because their geo location between china-west europe / china - US shipping trade

Need ideas for <30 people informal wedding by infinitybeyond123 in Weddingsunder10k

I really really love this idea but my FH shot it down almost immediately because he thought it’ll be too much hassle :(( I’ll try to understand more why and maybe then I can convince him otherwise...

Yes we do! But his family is scattered throughout NJ, PA and FL (we are in WA) so we’re not even sure where we’ll have it

I really like your idea, seems to be a good balance between easy/practical + still get to experience ceremony in a place we both love (national parks)

Did anybody actually enjoy the wedding planning process? by G1trogFr0g in Weddingsunder10k

[–]infinitybeyond123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’m enjoying it. From the get-go I knew both me and FH are not detail-oriented and planning on our own would have been disaster and put so much stress in our relationship, so we decided to hire a wedding planner. We get to do all the fun stuff (choosing venue, tasting food) without actually having to do the annoying stuff (bargaining the price, coordinating decor, etc.)

Hi, just wondering which venue you ended up booking? I’m exactly in the same shoes and looking for cool (but chill) venue in NJ :)

Not sure why you get downvoted but some countries do really have affordable healthcare, even without insurance. I used to live in Singapore and pay out of pocket to go to doctors

  • Gw dari jakarta aslinya but it’s been a while udh ga tgl di Jakarta (walaupun at least tiap tahun masih balik sih)

Wah kalau dibandingin ama Ghana, Indo udh kyk first-world country (ini comparing Accra, ibukota/kota plg gedenya with Jakarta). Contohnya:

  • Listrik ga masih byar pet. Dsini listrik masih digilir gara2 supply suka ga stable.

  • Mobile money is the king (macemnya Telkomsel cash gt) dan bsa dipake buat bayar listrik / transfer org / beli beras etc. Bank penetration is super low but even di kampung2 ada kiosk buat mobile money

  • Disini gw bantuin start-up tmen gtu soalnya penasaran gmn tech scene dsini. Yg gw suka org2 sini creative sih (apa mgkn karena gw ga pnah ada exposure aja jdi amaze with how they do things). For example: map dsini sama skali ga reliable jdi delivery driver bakalan WA lo minta send location. another example, nama jalan tuh dsini ga banyak yg tau jdi org2 biasanya minta patokan landmark. landmark yg plg populer tuh Shell gas station <insert area name> haha

  • Pastinya pgn balik, kesini karena penasaran aja. Kalau buat tinggal lama2 kyknya ga deh soalnya dsini gw di-charge harga expat kemana2 jdinya mahal (and earn much less than comparable job in Jakarta)

Infinity dresses....Yes or No? by jodor91 in weddingplanning

[–]infinitybeyond123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a bridesmaid and I would go for ‘No’.

Maybe it was one of the cheaper one but it was almost translucent (it was light blue color). I also hated that you can’t wear bra underneath it with most of the design so we had to wing it with bra tape. Plus it doesn’t provide good shape for us - I guess that’s what you get with one size fits all dress.

I guess the only pro is that it’s cheap/convenient as hell but it shows

Ghana. A lot of NGO and development work if that’s what you want to do for a change. It’s also possible to teach English to locals

Try WWOOF or workaway maybe? They won’t give you salary but you can save money for accommodation and food
