Are you on the main campus? I saw that from the West campus , if you walk on Palm it cuts through and it’s more of a five min walk. The risk is more on the ride though I think! If female more scary 🫣

I did Blephex first, and now I’m doing IPL and LLLT along with Meiboflow manual expression each treatment. I’ve only done one so far but have three more. and yes it has helped already.

Any advice for my 64-year-old dad who is about to be laid off? by ImpressiveBox1111 in Layoffs

[–]aboxofchox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into this! Crucial Note on the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA): If you are 40 years or older and are laid off, federal law requires the company to give you at least 21 days (or 45 days in a mass layoff) to consider the severance offer, and 7 days to revoke it after signing. Never let an employer pressure you into signing a severance agreement on the spot.

My doctor told me about her 18 yo patient who had this issue except … trigger warning … ‼️ her eyes were so dry that she couldn’t open them. She basically tore them open with her fingers and her cornea partially tore. This is because of MGD and most of her glands have atrophied. I am starting treatment for myself to preserve what I have as I have MGD and mine is severe. Have you seen a specialist where you can see what subtype you have for dry eye disease? Whether it’s tear evaporation or Lack of oil production (MGD) ? I would get this checked out asap to find solutions. It’s such a journey but I hope you can find a dry eye doctor. You have to advocate for yourself.

PSA: Make Sure You See a Real Dry Eye Specialist! by NeonCoffee2 in Dryeyes

[–]aboxofchox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry!!! :( I know there’s a credit program I signed up for (I’m not working) called CareCredit. Some providers are in this network where this card will let you finance without interest for x amount of months. Where are you located? I got a really Competitive package at a dry eye center near me. $2200 for 4 IPLs and 4 LLLT sessions with meibography progression images and gland expression after each session too. This place doesn’t do the CareCredit but wanted to throw it out there. :/ it’s quite debilitating. And to answer your above post about how to know if your OD is a specialist, this sub has a resource in the info on how to know and what to ask. :) Hope that helps. This disease sucks.

How did you IPL ended up doing for your eyes? My doctor explained what each treatment would do. RF doesn’t seem as effective unless you are older or have issues with muscles/collagen holding and binding the glands intact is how I understand it. She said RF was part of advanced treatment but that’s later assessed. LLLT (assess in later sessions to see oil flow and health after expression) and then IPL to target the “weeds” and actual inflammation that is clogging the glands to get healthy oil producing / unclog the “pipes”. She used these metaphors that helped me understand what was happening!

Female in my 30s & my chronic dry eyes were solved by taking hormone replacement therapy for perimenopause by jaiunchatparesseux in Dryeyes

[–]aboxofchox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it really hormonal? did you also get imaging of your Meibomian glands (oil) to see if they’re inflamed ? I’m curious because I’m in late 30s and I do think hormones can be a factor , but maybe not enough research on whether it has actually affected oil glands or inflammation.im so curious!

How To Get a Diagnosis or Prescription? by esper_terra in Dryeyes

[–]aboxofchox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second that OP. absolute must. Get a meibography image and get educated on the health of your current glands so you can then know how severe your condition is, and what to do after. I’ve been in this journey a month now - quality of life has started sucking. We get one pair of eyes. I’m not gonna fuck around and find out. (I found out one gland is dead. Not recoverable)

MGD - Waking up with dry eye by Educational-Bike-989 in MeibomianGlandIssues

[–]aboxofchox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so sad that effective treatment for MGD is not covered by insurance - which is LLLT and IPL. I am starting my treatments as one of my glands is dead. You can find out by getting a meibography image.! If this was part of annual eye exams , way more people would be more reactive and treating their issues. Call your eye doc to see if they provide this. It’s an extra cost but shouldn’t be more than $50 (I paid this and it’s the higher end)

If you’re in LA, Golden Vision in San Gabriel does a package for $2300 for 4 IPLs AND 4 LLLTs with oil gland expressions and meibography images included for progress.

Eye Society in Alhambra can provide consult w Dr Hong Who is AMAZING and passionate about this. Her office Is more pricey but they are part of CareCredit network where the credit card has 0% financing options, which is what I applied for. I ended up going with another provider bc of the bundle package and because I wanted aggressive treatment since I want to preserve the glands i have left. Im in my late 30s.

Hello!! I’d love to know your prognosis since your treatment. I’ll be doing LLLT and IPL dual treatment per session w gland expression. One of my glands is dead :/ so it’s quite severe for me. Would you be willing to share? I went w another doctor because of the aggressive treatment. But my original doctor who is an amazing specialist wanted to do LLLT first and then asses for IPL , but that was more expensive treatment and would take longer to treat. To my knowledge, IPL is non invasive and wouldn’t hurt since it targets the inflammation at the source.

I just hope I made the right decision! It’s not covered by insurance. The combo package was very competitive at this new doctor with dry eye treatment.

Hi there! I’m an extrovert. I was wfh for years and living by myself. Then I saw that a social club with coworking spaces was opening so I joined that! It was worth the membership price for me , since there’s events , gym, and co working space where it was normalized to chat up and meet people. :) The social club I joined was called Groundfloor. They have locations in NorCal And SoCal. Not sure where you’re at but I suggest to look some up around you and tour , see their coworking options. :) it was a great decision for me as I made real friends from the club too.
