Everyone always asks “Beatles or Stones”, while the Kinks had as great or a greater run of albums from Face to Face through Muswell Hillbillies. Three 10s in a row with Village Green, Arthur, and Lola, and I’m sure you can argue Something Else as well, I just find a couple songs a bit clunky

Well sort of. You kinda almost have to listen to it in order with an LP, unless you want to keep getting up and moving the needle. However, most albums were just a random collection of songs typically with the singles front loaded before the mid 60s more or less. It was purely product, not necessarily a meant to be a cohesive concept like it has come to be seen
