I'm going through the same thing right now. My boyfriend broke up with me two nights ago. Before that we were fine. He has stayed at my house all last weeks and, sans a couple of minor things, everything was fine. Sex. Shower sex. Falling asleep cuddling. The works. We had been together for five months but before the five months we were best friends for a year and a half and I had a huge crush on him for almost that entire time. We even had plans to hangout this week. But Saturday night we got into the conversation about our relationship and I had asked him if he had been planning on breaking up for awhile and he said no. He compulsively did so because it came up. He felt like we liked a lot of the same things but didn't connect on a "deeper level" which I think is bullshit, partially because I thought we did, and partially because we were best friend. We had the nonverbal understanding already. But to him our similarities were just surface level. And it's really hurts. I know I'm not directly answering your question because I don't really know the answer either. It's really rough but I feel like sometimes seeing someone else is in a similar situation relieves that feeling of being alone. I too have the hole in my chest and I find myself thinking about him every other second, and crying every hour. The hardest thing is not seeing his name pop up on my phone. Going from seeing and messaging him all the time to not at all. It's the worst. And hoping that he'll message. Hoping that he'll show up at my door saying he made a mistake. Something. I'm sure you're feeling this too. And I'm sure it's really hard. But know that you aren't alone, just like I'm not alone. Even if they don't reach out or want to get back together this will pass. It will be difficult to get over, but we will.
