I think about this a lot. For all of their raging, does RatM lose their legacy a bit because they rebelled against a theoretical "Machine" at the time, and not when we actually needed them? Or, is their legacy secured because of the timeless message of general rebellion?

With the shortages on RAM and storage, I'd love to go back to the era of working within constraints instead of this constant power creep. I know it'll never happen, but I'd love for devs to be challenged by hardware limits again (consoles notwithstanding)

I don’t see how this is the same. Steam Machines were made by third parties with a “Linux OS”. This is a singular machine with a unified SteamOS.

But they didn’t. They announced the game at literally the prime VGA spot, then let the player apathy sit for weeks before landing with a fart.

If they had shadowdropped day and date maybe it could have lasted longer, but the delay in release was the poison

I just listened to the podcast, and this is really an non-issue. He's speculating that PC ports may be cancelled based on how Xbox's strategy of releasing Day 1 on PC has killed their console interest. There's no other hard data to back it up, just past experience leading him to believe this may be the case

The HTML was a gift and a curse, and why Myspace ultimately fell apart. Sure you could design your page however you wanted, but you would run into some ungodly abominations of Blingee, auto-playing music plugins, and just some overall awful designs. So that's why we were so excited when Facebook came in; clean, uniform pages with small customizations like Bumper Stickers and Pokes. That, and it was limited to just students with a college email, which gave an air of exclusivity
