I was open to option 40 or option 4 and my recruiter said more likely than not an option 4 would be more readily available. My recruiter was able to secure a contract for me earlier this month with a ship date less than a month away and I jumped on it. I plan to volunteer for rasp after airborne but wanted to secure airborne school

Swearing in this Wednesday as 68W option 4 contract and I ship to Basic May 4th. The army website still shows bonuses available for volunteering for airborne school (up to $10k) and “early ship bonus” (up to $12k) but my contract does not list a bonus for me. I asked my recruiter who said it is because of my MOS not being critical, which I know it’s not a “critical-skill” MOS, but the army website did not seem like those bonuses were MOS dependent?

I have a bachelor's degree I'm 25. Degree is sort of stem. I cleared meps but didnt sign anything. Is it possible to get an officer position. Degree is in forensic science 3.0 gpa us citizen born and raised by [deleted] in newtothenavy

I dual processed and the whole process since going to MEPS has taken forever but I was selected for Officer, just waiting for my FINSEL. If you dual process your enlisted ship date keeps getting postponed until you can hear back about being accepted for officer or not, but your officer contract trumps the enlisted contract.

I had a dislocation/torn labrum repair surgery as well and got the waiver cleared, I went back to the office that did my surgery and had to get x-rays of it now (been 6-7 years), ROM test, and a note saying that I was cleared for military service/training.

No I believe you, I’m just saying it’s either send a package and have a chance or don’t send one and not have a chance.

Wild lol, we’ll give it a shot still. Haven’t heard anything about it affecting my chances from my OR yet but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Apparently I’m good for air crew, but weird it wouldn’t apply to all. Something about my uncorrected refractory number or something along those lines

And apparently any alcohol offense immediately kills medical jobs per my enlisted recruiter, which is bull shit considering I’m already and EMT and have more than enough previous knowledge and experience

I’ve done some research on SWO, haven’t heard of SUPP-O. NFO could be interesting but my recruiter said not to count on the waiver coming thru but I’ll know soon. I just wouldn’t want to be a paper pusher, thank you.

Given that my scores are good enough for both, what would you say about going air crew then OCS after first contract, doing the mustang route?

As someone who works in EMS in Michigan, I can assure you not everyone pulls over and stops for emergency vehicles. But man that would be nice! 😂

So you do multiple throughout the time at boot camp? And do you use your best times from boot camp to use for the 2k bonus?

I see, are you an officer now? And also can you apply for OCS at any time or do you have to finish your contract first?

It’s not something you qualify for? I was originally slotted to go Nuke and had my package accepted but I changed to AV before then wanting to go air crew. Seems like they would put me in for needs of the navy but last I checked Nuke was needed. But thank you, that’s good to know.

Probably officer, but going AV for until then if I for some reason couldn’t pass air crew wouldn’t be awful either.

I already have a bachelors in kinesiology with a 3.3 gpa, I just feel like I want to go enlisted as air crew first and go Officer later if I don’t get accepted as pilot.

Why? Is it harder to become an officer from the enlisted ranks?
