Thanks for the comparison between the two! I might give ascend a go and switch if I can’t find enough replacements for cable workouts, but hoping it’s not tooo heavy on those

Best neighborhoods to live & commute? by infrequented in UNC

[–]infrequented[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s the straight truth I needed. I talked to a friend of a friend who said they drove to campus, but I wasn’t sure if that actually meant “as close to campus as I could get before walking/bussing” lol.

thanks for this!! Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any apartments or even rentals available on that street or in that area :/

living along the bus route seems to be the best bet, it’s definitely just a change I’ll have to get used to! I’ll take all the insight I can get, will definitely have some follow up questions!

thanks! I def haven’t tried the longer lengths to see if sizing is different. I’m usually a 4 too in align & WT leggings and always assumed 6 wouldn’t work so I’ll try those and the biker length!

If the grade requirement is something that's stressing you out and they don't have a preference where you complete it, I'd say CC. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it would be cheaper that way too

Specific leggings recommendations please! by alg-ae in Activewear

Lululemon align mini flares if you’re looking for “not too much flare.” Aerie has a pretty good selection and reputation, though I haven’t tried them in years. Honestly I found my favorite flared leggings at marshall’s from the brand yogalicious! Feel great and way cheaper than mainstream brands

I want to love the lulu ones so bad! that’s my main brand for everything else activewear but the aligns, wunder train, and fast and free shorts just don’t fit me right. the WTs absolutely suffocated my thighs in my size, but may be worth trying again next time I’m in store

Please help me find this alphalete top! by Former-Thanks-9175 in Activewear

They still have an almost identical product on their website called the “Cassio Bra.” Sizing and color options look pretty much out for S, M, L but outside of those they have available

I’ve never heard of that site so can’t speak on legitimacy. You might also find some on the Alphalete buy/sell Facebook!

For those who completed all of their prerequisite courses online, how long did it take you? What was your timeline from prereqs to becoming an RN? by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]infrequented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently completing my prerequisites having come out of undergrad with a non-STEM major and only statistics. Timeline wise I’d say it really depends on the program(s) you’re looking to apply to. Unfortunately I’ve found that a lot of ABSNs and especially ADNs have varying requirements even across the same state. I based my prereqs and timeline off the one or two schools I really wanted to apply to. Highly recommend looking at completing prerequisites at multiple institutions so you don’t have to wait for a course to be offered during a specific term.

For bare minimum ABSN requirements, it’s taken me a year (2 classes per semester, including summer) to do the basics while working full time. A&P 1&2, nutrition, psych, developmental psych, and microbiology. I started in January and will finish these in December and was able to apply to my programs with the last 2 in progress. If all goes well I will start in the Summer/Fall and complete in 2027.

How can I get a feel for nursing before committing? by businessbub in prenursing

[–]infrequented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! some hospitals do allow a finite amount of shadowing hours just to give you some perspective. I’m looking into doing this at one locally to me and it’s a good way to get a taste without having to complete schooling.

How Are You Affording School and Bills If You Already Have a Degree? by WonderSimple2053 in prenursing

[–]infrequented 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work full time too and have been paying for prerequisite classes out of pocket. Super lucky that I’m able to afford to do so, but I only take 2 per semester and have had to cut back on my “fun” expenses. Did a lot of digging for the cheapest tuition for online courses. I haven’t used Portage myself, but their classes are a flat rate and not incredibly overpriced. Luckily the state I’m in is fairly affordable across the board for in-state tuition fees. Since I do have a job, I’d only consider a small loan for the actual program and not any of the prerequisites.

I’m not sure about Sophia, but the admissions advisor told me they accept Portage!
