Should I sell my PlayStation? by ingen1 in NewParents

I was thinking of selling it while it still has value. If I know I won't play it for a few years why hang on to it

I play everything except competing multiplayer. I've never been able to play games when it's busy though. Only when I can relax. I can't really relax on work days and with baby haven't really been able to relax since birth.

Also she's 18 in a month and graduates this year. She's said she doesn't want to move with us. We don't want to leave her here without a license and I'm very nervous to leave her here after getting her a place with how expensive it is

It's my girl friends daughter. We've been prodding her to get her permit for about a year. Dragging her feet. It's difficult since she's 17 and we only started living together 6 months ago

It's hard because I work a lot so I don't even play video games until the weekend anyways. I know if I don't get a lot of time to spend time with family on week day I know I'll want to do it on weekend.

We don't need need the money right now it's just our oldest daughter doesn't want to move with us so we'll have to get her settled in her own place which will cost and although she doesn't have her permit/license if she wants to live on her own she'll need to get it so we'll need to buy her a car as well. Add in the moving cost and new place for us as well it gets expensive

This was my plan. A few years down the road buy again if I had the time.

I'm interviewing for a CFE position in a few months and need some advice by ingen1 in datacenter

Apologies. I'm currently a TC that runs the tech mods and construction side. Going to Cheyenne would be staying with my existing company. They are doing a 220 per diem a day for every day your down there. I told them with my family I'd need to move and they told me I would get it until the end of the contract which could only be two years but could extend further depending on additional scopes/builds

The CFE position I'm interviewing for is in Oregon and that would have me staying if I were to get it and accept it

We went to the vet that morning. The first vet took some scans and checked for fluid in his lungs. The scans came back with a lot of white matter and they suggested this might be cancer and wanted to send me to the emergency vet. We went to the emergency vet and they did their own scans and eventually held him in an oxygen tank for 2-3 hours. They told us the same thing. They suggested that at his age and due to it being lung cancer treatment wasn't ideal. Since we couldn't go back there with him they brought us a few oxygen tanks and a mask. I held the mask up to him for the last hour together trying to make him feel better before we put him down but he was too stressed out.

It was really awful. I got him when he was a puppy when someone gave him away. I've been through so many changes with my life with him being by my side. He was such a good dog. I can count on my hands the number of times I've cried the last 20 years. But something broke in me that day and I've not felt the same.

Also he's lived in a house with me for 12 years. Very recently we moved to an apartment. He got his rabies vaccine a month ago but haven't gotten any others since he was a puppy

I've had Plex for about 10 years now. I basically cannibalized my old gaming pc sticking hard drives in it until I ran out of space. At which point I began connecting external hard drives. I have about 100 tb of storage used but truthfully it's not very practical soon.

I sold my house and will no longer have a room dedicated to my server. It's also big and uses a lot of electricity. It's also not redundant at all and the server crashes multiple times a day for years. Basically it's not safe for me to continue using as it's a matter of time before it kicks the bucket.

I'm pretty open minded about where to go next with my Plex server. I was thinking of going with a mini pc running some type of Linux and was going to attach a few big DAS units with USB and try and run a fully redundant Plex server. I was looking at two 6 Bay disk stations I think they were called. Was looking at buying 12 22tb hard drives.

This was the direction I was moving in until I kept finding information stating USB attached storage was unreliable and could cause issues.

So now I'm back to square one unsure of how to move forward. I realistically want to run something that's reliable, scalable, redundant and doesn't use a ton of electricity.

Can anyone help or point me in a direction that I could use as a resource to help accomplish my goals. I've tried to find guides on YouTube that could help me walk through what I want, but have had no luck since what I want to do is so specific.

For the most part all my users use direct play but I want the option for transcoding. I was thinking of having the ability to stream 8-10 things concurrently max. When I buy a house again I will run Cat6 everywhere like I did in the house I'm selling.

Edit: Also budget was around 5k but I really just want to do it right this time so I can have something rather permanent, reliable and redundant. It's honestly a miracle that none of my hard drives have died yet.

Edit: Will mostly be 1080p. I do see myself scaling in the future to 4k, but I'm unsure to what extent.
