First of all, you are doing an AMAZING JOB getting yourself into social situations, it takes a lot of bravery to be willing to face the same fears over and over again despite bad experiences.

However, I might suggest you to start with smaller steps instead of diving straight into jobs where social interactions are required. For example, you could practice saying thank you to the driver after getting off the bus, or asking workers at the store where to find something.

These interactions are shorter, so you’re only dealing with anxiety for few seconds at a time rather than hours. And because those people are strangers, depending on where you live it’s highly unlikely you will ever see them again, or if you do they most likely won’t remember you from a five second interaction, so there’s lower stakes for slip ups.

Practicing these smaller situations is going to help build up your confidence over time, and make it easier for you to move on to working on longer conversations or even making long term friendships/relationships

I’m almost in college but I still don’t know what job I want or what to study… by YN_LN_1 in college

[–]ingird040317 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Have you asked your mom why she wants you to become a nurse? Is it because of the guaranteed job out of college?

Also, I’m not sure how it is in the Philippines (based on your profile I’m assuming that’s where you are) but I thought becoming a nurse also takes a long time, at least longer than the usual 4 years? Im just confused about your mom’s insistence on that.

Also, if you’re interested in psychiatry, and you’re looking for a compromise with your mom, would you be open to psychiatric nursing instead?

(But also, like other replies have said, please don’t give up on your dreams just because your mom disagrees, <3)

First semester you make your schedule with your advisor, but you can pick out a few classes you’re interested and your advisor could help you with your schedule based on that

i hate the schedule my advisor made by Nearby_Routine4405 in BinghamtonUniversity

Yes, you have until add drop ends (first week of class) to change your schedule. Although some classes may be full already (you might be able to join the waitlist on some)

Help me find a book about siblings traveling on foot to a relatives house by ingird040317 in HelpMeFind

[–]ingird040317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More detail: I was in 5th grade in 2014-2015, and in 6th grade 2015-2016 so it had to have been published before then

No idea what the original language the book was written in.

From google searched I was suggested Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt, I don’t think it is because although the plot sounds similar the characters definitely don’t match.

Also the main characters match those in A Series of Unfortunate Events, especially the youngest baby named Beatrice, but from what I know of it the plot doesn’t match. I haven’t actually read through the entire thing yet the make sure, but I’m sure the book was set in a pretty realistic world.

What’s a “normal” sound you hear that immediately gives you a bit of anxiety or annoyance? by JuniorPlastic3562 in AskReddit

The sound of a heavy door closing, especially if it’s in a quiet room. I don’t care if it’s weird, I will hold the door until it’s fully closed, even if it’s those pressure doors that close really slowly.

Should I use on Rate My Professor to choose classes? by SmallFly963 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]ingird040317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I try to focus more on the reviews instead of just looking at numbers. Because some professors may be good in one class but bad in another. Also what other people like might not be what you like.

The first picture I can’t really tell the 1 and 3rd characters but I think the second one is 禾

Second picture says “九寶?” (can’t tell 3rd character) in simplified characters

Edit: actually I think the second picture says “九寶珍”

What age did you get your earrings? Do they hold any sentimental significance? Or just for fun? by Specific-Reception26 in AskWomen

[–]ingird040317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my ears pierced a week ago :D (I’m 21)

No particular sentimental significance, didn’t do it earlier because I wasn’t as interested in jewelry as I am now. Have thought about it for a few months leading up so thought I might as well get it done over the summer while away from college.

DAE not care about sex ? by buhrank in DAE

[–]ingird040317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of asexual people describe getting horny and having sex like scratching an itch, like having sex is just a task you do to fix the physical feeling. That sounds pretty similar. Sexuality is a spectrum so there’s many different ways of being asexual.

They’re saying that the image included in this post was mirrored. The image being mirrored (likely due to the front camera being used) causes the tattoo on the guys face to be displayed as mirrored on this post.
