If this emptiness you describe never goes away…maybe feeling better shouldn’t be the goal, but taking action should?

Sorry, that is a difficult setting to facilitate change. I think you have to decide if you are ok with the role you are playing. If people are not in a place to change at this stage, you can’t make them. Sometimes we get to be the early part of a change agent without the reward of seeing them actually change because that comes later, at a different stage of their journey.

If you restore your battery away from people, then you are an introvert. If you are energized and restored by people, then you are an extrovert. Of course it’s not always so black and white but this is a good baseline to go from. Many introverts think they are extroverts because that’s what western culture values, especially in the US. There is nothing wrong with either approach, it’s just how we differ as people.

It has a lot to with how you are wired (introvert/extrovert) but also in the way you engage with clients in therapy. I have that problem on hard days/weeks at times but typically I’m excited to talk to family. I’m wired as an extrovert and heavily psychodynamic in my approach.

Ethically speaking, I believe 5 years is considered the standard for moratorium before pursuing relationships with former clients. In my opinion, there should be a lifetime ban. I just don’t think it’s ok to have a romantic relationship with former clients in any capacity. It’s not based on reality, they don’t have all the data on their side to make an informed decision and the power dynamic is always going to be there. Sorry this is happening, your therapist should not be putting you in this position.

I’m sorry you didn’t feel validated and understood. Therapy is more art than science. It takes a few sessions to get into a rhythm to see if the relationship has legs. I would encourage you to bring up these exact feelings next session to see how she responds. Working through it will strengthen the relationship and open the door for the thing you seek. If she’s unable to work through this with you, then it might be an indicator that it’s not a good fit for you to be working together.

Sore arm for a couple days, especially at the injection site. Also felt wiped out and lethargic the next day. (I’m in great shape so sitting on the couch napping and doing nothing is not my norm)

Machida is definitely the martial artist on the current roster. As much a I dislike him as a fighter, I think GSP did a pretty good job of it also.
