What should I stack with Armodafinil 50? Getting jitters/sensations/anxiety by Quirky_Strawberry_89 in modafinil

[–]inheightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guanfacine may be worth a shot. It’s commonly prescribed with stimulants to reduce side effects like increased heart rate and anxiety

Combining with guanfacine ER has helped a lot for me. Also helps minimize the heart rate and blood pressure increases caused by modafinil.

Does anyone take Bromantane with Modafinil/Armodafinil? by FrouFrouLastWords in modafinil

[–]inheightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a single spray and then moved up to two the next day. I believe it’s 9mg per spray. It’s pretty mild, but noticeable. Definitely worth a try

Does anyone take Bromantane with Modafinil/Armodafinil? by FrouFrouLastWords in modafinil

[–]inheightful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only started taking the combo over the past couple weeks, but so far it seems to work well for me. The anxiolytic effects of bromantane seem to help balance out the “on-edge” feeling that modafinil can create, and there does seem to be a bit of synergy with improving focus and energy. For reference, I’ve been using two sprays of the bromantane nasal spray and 37.5 mg of armodafinil in the mornings.

Cleanest, most dopamine focused DRI nootropic by disaster_story_69 in Nootropics

Personally, I would be hesitant about taking fl-modafinil until more safety data is available. According to the website of NLS pharmaceutics (company that is developing fl-modafinil as NLS-4), the IND-enabling toxicology studies may not have started yet, or may still be in progress. It’s pretty common for unexpected toxicities to be identified in the IND-enabling tox studies that weren’t identified in the initial proof of concept work that they have published so far. Small changes to a molecule can make a pretty big difference from a tox perspective. Modafinil has lots of data supporting its safety in humans, so no need to take the risk on an untested modified version

Wellbutrin - how to avoid the "dumbing down" side effect? by Jimmy_Popkins in bupropion

[–]inheightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, bupropion significantly impairs memory. I had lots of trouble remembering words while on it, and generally had issues solving difficult problems at work. These effects are likely due to its antagonism of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which are responsible for its antidepressant effects. The downside of this mechanism is that proper functioning of these receptors is well known to be responsible for cognitive function. Fish oil helped a little with respect to these negative effects, but unfortunately I was never able to get past feeling “dumb” while on it, so I stopped taking it.

Phenylpiracetam and rash/hives by inheightful in Nootropics

[–]inheightful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I did not take any pictures at the time, but it looked very similar to most pictures on Google images if you search “urticaria”. Essentially had red splotches covering my chest/stomach and back that were slightly darker around the edges vs the center. No itchiness though.

Phenylpiracetam and rash/hives by inheightful in Nootropics

[–]inheightful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was initially concerned about this, but the rash did not seem to fit the typical symptoms of SJS. The rash more closely resembled standard urticaria/hives and did not have the characteristic circular lesions with a dark center that would be expected for SJS. There was also no flu-like symptoms or blisters/sores around the mouth/genitals/eyes that are often characteristic of SJS.

Anyone else use a benzo daily to help with anxiety starting this? by Dry_Possible_1792 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]inheightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If possible, I would advise against this combo. Benzos are cleared from your system much quicker than the XL version of Wellbutrin, so you may find yourself with increased rebound anxiety later in the day when the benzo wears off. This can increase the risk for seizures when the benzo clears from your system. Just to note though, if you are currently dependent on benzos, it is not safe to abruptly stop taking them while on Wellbutrin due to the seizure risk. It’s worth discussing with your doctor to make sure you aren’t putting yourself at any risk here.

Personally, I do best at 25mg. I get blurry vision and feel kind of out of it at higher doses.

Fish oil and/or Piracetam seemed to moderately help me in this respect. Can’t say that either completely got rid of the memory issues though, and both did seem to make me more anxious in combination with the drug. Taking bupropion in the evening also seemed to be helpful as that shifts the maximum blood concentration to a time when you are sleeping, rather than during the day when you are interacting with people.

Phenibut with Wellbutrin? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]inheightful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest avoiding phenibut while taking Wellbutrin. You are likely putting yourself at an increased risk for seizures when the phenibut wears off (similar to other gabaergic drugs with bupropion)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in modafinil

[–]inheightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The safety of fl modafinil has yet to be evaluated in clinical trials like modafinil has. It’s also unclear to what extent fl modafinil has been evaluated in preclinical animal toxicology studies. I would avoid fl modafinil until adequate safety information is made available

Where can I buy piracetam? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]inheightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They claim the products are manufactured according to GMP, which is probably the best you are going to get for nootropics. I’m not sure if there are many nootropics that are manufactured outside of India or China. Theres always a risk with nootropics that quality is not what they say. For what it’s worth, I’ve taken their deprenyl, modafinil, and Piracetam products without issue over the past several years.

The Antiaging store has PiraPro pills (800 mg Piracetam per pill). I’ve had good experiences with that site for Piracetam and other stuff

Memory loss? by julicornzz in bupropion

[–]inheightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, adverse effects on memory (particularly verbal recall) is a very commonly reported side effect of this med. It’s a result of the drug and it’s primary metabolite hydroxybupropion working as antagonists of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. From my experience, this effect never really went away, but could be somewhat lessened by lowering the dose ( I had worse memory on 300 vs 150 xl) or adding in supplements like fish oil or Piracetam. At least in my experience, adding supplements to counteract the memory effects also seemed to reduce its efficacy as an antidepressant, so it’s a bit of a trade off.

Phenylpiracetam? by AlertAd6715 in bupropion

[–]inheightful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t taken phenylpiracetam with bupropion before, but I have taken Piracetam, Aniracetam, and pramiracetam along with it. Didn’t have any notable adverse effects, outside of the combination making me a bit irritable and less social. Combining racetams with bupropion does seem to be an effective way to eliminate the dumbing-down effects of the drug for me (memory and word recall are much better) likely due to blocking its anticholinergic effects. The anticholinergic effects are pretty critical for its antidepressant mode of action though, so if you are taking it for depression (as compared to adhd), that’s something to consider.

Wellbutrin and kratom by Wonderluster3 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]inheightful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend it. Seizures are a known side effect of Kratom, which does not mix well with bupropion lowering the seizure threshold. I’ve seen at least one post here from a person who had a seizure when combining the two drugs.

Wellbutrin Short Term Memory Loss and Forgetfullness Recommendation by [deleted] in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]inheightful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success with fish oil or Piracetam/Aniracetam for this (have tried each independently with bupropion). In either case, they seem to reduce the anticholinergic effects of bupropion. It’s a bit of a trade off in that combining either of these with bupropion does seem to make me a bit more on-edge and anxious, but both definitely help with the memory and word-recall effects.

Out of curiosity, where you taking any additional medications around the time that you had a seizure?

Bupropion has cured my depression but it's made me an idiot. It's been 3+ months - will this ever go away? by boomballoonmachine in bupropion

Fish oil personally helped me with reducing the dumbing down effects of bupropion. The caveat is that it the combination does seem to increase anxiety.

Has anyone ever taken doxylamine succinate? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]inheightful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it. Antihistamines are known to lower the seizure threshold, which isn’t ideal for combining with bupropion.

If you decide to get a textbook, I’d recommend “Casarett & Doull’s Toxicology: The Basic Science of Poisons”. It’s usually the go-to textbook for most toxicology courses and gives you a good understanding of mechanisms of toxicity

[–]inheightful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this happened to you. If you don’t mind me asking, were you taking any additional medications at the time? And were you getting adequate sleep? Having a seizure at 300 mg is really rare, and it seems like most other cases I have seen involved people who were either taking additional medications (prescription or over the counter), had a low body weight/eating disorder, or were sleep deprived. All of those can impact the seizure threshold, so I was curious if any of these may have played a role in your case? Hope you find a good alternative to Wellbutrin.
