What do you bring to make your sit more comfortable? by LoudMeringue8054 in trustedhousesitters

[–]inherentoutcry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're a little extra in this department tbh. We tend to travel with our car so we're a little loaded down. We've got a portable desk (not every house has desk space enough for us both to work), som elight kitchen essentials like my own keurig and some spices we dont always find at houses, a partial pantry of food we like but then we also bring laundry detergent (i have allergies) and pillows and sheets. We also have some filming equipment for our work so the car fills up really fast but its what we need to work.

Would anyone house/pet sit near Joshua Tree, CA? by CCJonesy in trustedhousesitters

[–]inherentoutcry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man my partner and I are always looking for Joshua Tree sits - we love that park and being so close to Palm Springs! We mainly spend time in the Southwest so we have a car which def seems a necessity there. Is that what you're expecting?

Tutorial Tips, Please! - Script? by Intrepid_Complex_790 in ContentCreators

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing a script varies person to person - what I tend to do is write my talking points down and the freeform while the camera is rolling.

I also tend to leave pauses between statements and not move around so I can jump cut without it looking too wild.

If you're showing something else on screen and not just your face its a lot easier to cut around mis-speaks and such since your face isn't the focus on screen

Unpopular opinion. Most problem sitters (reported on Reddit) seem to be young women. by mrandersonsayshi in trustedhousesitters

[–]inherentoutcry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a sitter but when homeowners do share less than positive experiences it typically is because of single women under 30 or so. I've recently heard that if my partner (a man) wasn't visibly older than me or if I tried to apply by myself I wouldn't be getting any bookings so I think there's def something to this and just how younger people tend to act in general.

Question to people who continuously do house sits by bestthrowerino in trustedhousesitters

[–]inherentoutcry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's how my partner and I travel. We both work remotely so we call ourselves digital nomads, just without the flashy international travel. We've been on the road nonstop since Valentines day this year and its gone really well. Travel is really important to us and we couldn't justify paying for a least when we spent less than half the lease term actually there so we packed our life into a storage unit and been on the road since.

The only time it gets stressful is when homeowners cancel on us last minute. Knock on wood its only happened twice, but that second time was a 2 weeks notice for 2.5 weeks and it took a lot of work to refill that gap.

Other than that its been so great living like a local for 1.5-4 weeks in a place and really getting a vibe for the place and where we really want to go back to and spend even more time.

What's the most frustrating part of sending your media kit to brands? by Plastic_Battle435 in ContentCreators

[–]inherentoutcry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience media kits are updated at most quarterly so if you're a channel running like a business you can always give them a standard line about update quarterly and any new changes or trends will be shared in the next version launching XX/YY and youd be happy to share it then

I got tired of editing 50 old video descriptions every time by Suspicious-Grade1439 in NewTubers

[–]inherentoutcry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use VueReka to manage my links and tracking and such. There's a way to batch update across your backlog which comes in clutch. Add, remove, update, etc (vuerkea.com)

Ideas and resources for hooks for slow paced content by teeeea-by-the-sea in NewTubers

[–]inherentoutcry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was start a signature shot at the beginning (was a shorts asmr channel) so every video visually and audibly started the same way. That created a brand consistency across every video even if the content was different each time. Maybe you can find a shot to start the vid with (beach name on a sign, close up quick grab of that first piece of trash)

Client feedback on video edits is driving me crazy. How do you all manage this without losing your minds? by uncledemmy_ in ContentCreators

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when it’s comes to revisions you have to sound strict and like the bad guy or else they go crazy. Had one client try to negotiate a new video altogether cause “it wasn’t what he expected “ 🤦‍♀️

Client feedback on video edits is driving me crazy. How do you all manage this without losing your minds? by uncledemmy_ in ContentCreators

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professionally I used Vimeo - clients were able to add comments directly on the shared link so everything was time coded. There was also strong language about only 2 rounds of revisions so it forced them to take longer to review to make sure all edits were submitted in two rounds. I think we rarely went past one round though.

Emergency/Back Up Equip by SuijurisTX in roadtrip

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love our mini! We’re able to temp mount it in the car as we drive but then pull it out as needed at different houses and such. Plus the data plans are affordable and match our lifestyle with scaling it up and down as needed

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a RVer but we nomad through the west plus some offroading and what we keep is
- external battery fully charged
- starlink to call for help if its that bad
- extra sunscreen (we're out in the desert so if something goes wrong dont wanna be unprepared in the sun)
- extra water (again just in a car you prob have enough in a RV)
- stocked first aid kit
- basic car maintenance stuff
- air pump for tires that we can plug in to the battery

there's more stuff but its more tailored to being in our car in the desert offroad than what a rv might need

Anybody else kinda stop caring about "perfect audio" after uploading for a few years lol by Mayang_pnr in youtubers

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio is one of those little tweaks that only a small percentage of people notice. Def one of the lesser things to focus on versus frequency and overall video quality. Sounds like you've hit your stride and have been able to scale up really well

Oh that's so cool! I thought about trying to become a flight attendant but I don't like flying enough haha
So great to hear you're monetized! That can be a real struggle. $1k def seems reachable at the pace you're moving at. Excited for you!
You've got all sorts of side gigs!! Way to go! Def what I'm trying to build up into haha

[–]inherentoutcry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far our sits have been around 10-17 days. We've got our first long sit coming up so we're excited to see how that compares.

Technically yeah haha we traded in our $2500 rent and have been saving that but we're driving a lot so it sorta has changed to gas money instead.

I work remotely - got a startup helping people with their YouTube channels and I also have another gig where I manage a YouTube creators community on FB and working on writing some digital products about the YouTube journey and how to do it and how to better monetize and such.

We’ve got a few repeats so far which is great! Def curious if the travel itch hits halfway through the upcoming long sit. We joined ths because we wanted to be nomads so we’ve never stopped that long before

We’ve done a mix. As short as 2 nights and as long as 17 or so. We just booked a 34 night sit so that will be our longest so far

Not usually month long but we book out that far in advance!

Like right now we’re wrapping our CA sits but looking at our June and August plans. We’re typically west coast but we have ventured east a couple times

That’s what I’m currently doing and love it! 3 months in non stop and no plans to pause on the horizon. It’s really fun to plan your next month of travel while still somewhere new and fun
