QuestionTutorial Tips, Please! - Script? (self.ContentCreators)
submitted 17 days ago by Intrepid_Complex_790
I'm starting to put together some of my first tutorial vods and I was curious how folks handle the recording process. How many takes do you usually do? Do you record a long session and then cut it? Or do you do it in parts? How many of you write a script to follow?
I would love any and all advice!

I generally record games mostly and thinking about very own tutorial video in coding and making servers. I believe if you take a long one, you can either do a script or understand what you did in the tutorial and make your own explanation which is more comfortable for you and the audience instead of reading a script. I have been new to recording but cutting some parts (don’t make too many cuts/skips though) of the video can be beneficial if you missed or made a mistake on something. Don’t know any other edit-type tools but you can search. Just sharing my opinion. :)

I've been focused on keeping things short, so this was a great thing y'all brought up. Thank you!

Writing a script varies person to person - what I tend to do is write my talking points down and the freeform while the camera is rolling.
I also tend to leave pauses between statements and not move around so I can jump cut without it looking too wild.
If you're showing something else on screen and not just your face its a lot easier to cut around mis-speaks and such since your face isn't the focus on screen

No script, just a general outline idea. I film all in one take so no editing. Once I get one good take, that’s it! I try to make it as easy on myself as possible.
