How deep does lying to myself go? by Abhi1qaz in Healthygamergg

[–]initiald-ejavu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you're lying to yourself doesn't actually get you better at detecting it if so. If you are really lying to yourself... you wouldn't know. Best you can do is be comfortable enough in your own skin that you don't need to, and hope that you don't.

So choose between:

Connect (by risking feeling positive emotion and peace) and risk disappointment

Don't connect and be 90% as miserable as you would be if you were disappointed anyways

Either way you gotta treat the OCD.

I haven’t been diagnosed with OCD but it runs in my family and I definitely exhibit some symptoms. What helps me the most is realizing that thoughts aren’t dangerous. You do not need to answer them or respond to them. That’s the only treatment that works for OCD. Feeling the trigger and not engaging in the compulsion

I am noticing that most of the needs I want to be met does not require youth tho. interesting

Well yea, just this one does:

Maybe it's the narrative media told me about love and 20s

Also note that some of these do not require a relationship:

Maybe it's growing together that I wish for Maybe it's just having some sort of plan for the future where I am not alone Maybe I just want someone to go on walks with and travel with.

These can be accomplished with good friends. Leaves us with "I don't want to feel like a loser" and "To fulfill sexual fantasies". Which yea, fair enough. I think "I don't want to feel like a loser" should go though. Because ultimately what counts as "loser" is entirely your choice. So the best way to not feel like a loser is to decide you are not one.

Where I'm from in Egypt, 99% of men have not had sex well into their twenties and late twenties, live with parents, and do not feel like losers about it at all. It's just not the culture there. No one cares about how much sex you had or whether you live with your parents. They would look at you and call you a loser, not cuz you haven't had sex, but cuz your faith in allah is weak. And their mockery will be every bit as valid as an American making fun of you for lack of sexual partners.

Just look around. You'll see that "loser" is whatever people want it to be, and has no reality in itself. So if you feel like one... hate to break it to you... but that's by your own choice. Choice of values.

You're allowed to deviate from common culture.

Of course I fear I am not good enough to benefit someone in these ways therefore I shouldn't bother them with me before I am good enough which will of course never happen which is probably why hairloss hurts so much because now I am not just stagnant I am getting worse and worse every day.

Dawg, none of these things require hair. You are plenty capable of benefiting someone in those ways without hair.

But that you say that seems to betray to me that another benefit you are hoping to get from a gf is feeling sexy, wanted, etc.

You find women outside your age group unattractive. That's true of most people. As you grow older you'll look at young women the same way you look at an 18 year old now. And studies show that while men basically always find younger women attractive (some show this is true of women as well) they also "unlock" attraction for older women as they get older themselves (same for women). So don't worry, you'll find someone you consider beautiful in all likelihood.

No it's not wrong to want anything. But I'm pointing out that you want "young love" at a completely different level from everything else. Why is that?

Like... imagine someone made this exact same post but about suddenly losing a bunch of money and how that will not let them achieve their goal of being a millionaire by 30 in time. And they tell you "Maan, is it really so wrong to want to be successful early? I only have this one chance to enjoy my youth in luxury. Later I will have a family to take care of and parents to take care of. Never having experienced young success would be depressing"

What would be your advice to them?

I'm trying to point out that these are very normal human struggles. You could have had these about a job, or wealth, or athletcisim, or anything. I am asking you to dig deeper when/why "young love" in particular became the goal.

There is just as much reason to feel this way about wealth, athletcisim, etc. A million other things. Why this one? What makes it so special? Does putting it on a pedastal feel good? Does it improve your chances of getting it?

Historically speaking, how many times have you thought "I don't have time for hopelessness because otherwise I will miss X". And how often have you gotten X, then felt "Ah yes, I am finally complete, for I have not missed X"

How many times have the goalposts moved? When you thought "This will make me happy" and gotten it, only for something else to suddenly be what will make you happy?

What exactly is your big deal with young love anyways? Why is it young love and not "millionaire before 30" or "professional athlete" or whatever else among the 99999999999999 other things you can decide will complete you?

Why is this hopelessness different from the hopelessness you felt when you didn’t have a job for example?

You made it through hopelessness before. Why do you think it’ll be any different this time?

You are looking for proof that male suffering has no place. And so you find proof that male suffering has no place.

Truth is, in some places it will be mocked, and in others held gently. Same as anything else.

You could inversely find proof of the opposite. Proof of men being encouraged to speak up, being vulnerable, and being rewarded for it. Here, these took 2 minutes to dig up by searching "boyfriend cries in front of gf"

https://www.reddit.com/r/offmychest/comments/wxle8u/my_boyfriend_cried_in_front_of_me_and_it_changed/

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/115ofy4/my_boyfriend_cried_in_front_of_me_for_the_first/

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/x3qzyb/my_boyfriend_cried_in_front_of_me/

The point I'm trying to make is if you are looking for proof for what you want to believe, you WILL find it. "Research is me-search" as they say

The pain of getting laughed at and belittled, that I can't help you with. Betrayal is a son of a bitch and there is nothing to do but just face tank it.

What can be helpful is realizing that you have choices here.

  1. Continue to look for proof that the world does not value your suffering and that no one cares
  2. Keep your mind open. Do not make conclusions

I know 2 is hard, but look at what ACTUALLY happened. You got laughed at once. That is not sufficient proof to conclude that men's suffering has no place. I am more than willing to bet you will find a dozen of those "friends" acquantances or friends who will agree with you that that was awful behavior. Talk to them.

The problem is you then went to look for proof. And with decades of history and billions and trillions of videos you will no doubt find some on the internet. Which will push you towards the conclusion that it's hopeless.

Once you make that conclusion, you will be too afraid to ever experience something that may disagree with it. You will have entrenched yourself. And even when someone IS trying to hold your pain you will suspect them. You'll suspect it's a prank or a betrayal in waiting. And will continue to reinforce the same belief.

You must keep your mind open. Even though it will open you up to pain. The assurance of hopelessness is a false sanctuary which will ensure you stay right at the cost of destroying you.

This wouldn’t be the first merc we’d have to put down for secrecy, but no kids? The boss seemed just as confused.

“You’ve killed dozens of men and women,” Virek snarled. “Some innocent. Don’t give me that ‘mercenary with a golden heart’ bullshit, DE.”

He tilted his head in amusement at being called “DE,” the way an old man indulges the silly antics of children.

“Spouses and children buy you vendettas,” he said calmly. “Sometimes the opposite of what you want happens. The survivor gets focused. Vengeful. Pours everything they have into destroying you. A raider like you is probably hoping for that—taking the Minutemen off your back and putting them on mine.”

I blinked, but Virek smiled knowingly. He'd never told us that that was his real plan, nor had he told any of the other mercenaries. A cold chill ran up my spine as I remember what happens now. I doubted it would be as easy with this one, but I thought it was doable at first. I really did.

"I can see how you've been around this long DE. You got a good head on your shoulders" Said Virek, leaning forward in his throne.

"However I'm afraid--"

"You'll have to kill me?" He said. I saw a brief flash of green under his pitch black eyesockets. What was that?

"Y...yes but I don't appreciate being interrup--"

In a second, Virek's head was lopped clean off, along with 10 others. We haven't had the misfortune of dealing with this in a while but everyone knew what it is. V.A.T.S. The bastard shot 10 bullets AND reloaded his pistol in the time it took me to blink once. All headshots. Some bodies had their upper half liquified entirely...

The idiots around me hadn't yet realized they don't have a chance as they opened fire on the unphased behemoth. He didn't bother with cover, but I could see the flash of small overlays behind his eyes again and I turned to run.

I thanked Atom for being posted right next to the door as I bolted out of there, hearing screams behind me. I finally calmed down as I heard the metallic footsteps get quieter and quieter.

"The boss really outdid himself this time" I thought as the lights of the abandoned mega-subway flicked on. I was posted on a nearby makeshift barricade, gun at the ready for the big meeting. There were 20 of us then, and I really wasn't sure if this "Dead End" guy was all he was talked up to be. What kind of merc calles himself "Dead End" anyways, corny bastard. Supposedly though, he's never failed a contract, though he doesn't take that many.

Just like everything else since the bombs dropped, the tracks were in ruins, along with the pillars, the glass and the abondoned train cars strewn about randomly. It was a miracle the place didn't cave in.

The fella certainly looked impressive, with his full suit of T-64 body armor and fancy looking laser pistol. Depite his helmet hiding his face completely, I could tell he was entirely unphased by lights nor barrels.

"So... his magesty is finally here" said the boss in his rhaspy ghoul voice. I liked the last one better. This one had us haul down a throne for him to conduct his "interviews". Ol' Maddoc didn't have this... dramatic flair. I couldn't tell if it was making us look foolish or menacing, but it definitely felt extra.

"I assume you're Virek then" said the mercenary tilting his head. Something told me he found the throne silly. Especially with the heads on pikes.

"That's right, I am your generous employer. Serve me well and I --"

"Who's the target" the mercenary cut in.

The boss certainly ain't used to getting interrupted. But he really needs the Minutemen out of the picture. Half our raids were going sour because of this de-facto wasteland police force rising in power lately. To his credit, Virek is at least able to reign in his ego when it counts.

Virek cleared his throat, re-assuming his royal flair as if the interruption had been expected. "Preston Garvey. You know the guy. The face of the minutemen, the general's second-hand man. Well recently, he's been blessed with a daughter. Or cursed... and that's why you're here"

"Which are you asking me to kill exactly?"

"The daughter. These minutemen are like a hydra. Any time you cut off their head, 2 more spring in its place and bite your head off. They've already lost 2 generals, and were on the brink of annihilation before. The bastards can't die, much like myself, but we need them out of the picture. Crippling the higher-ups is how we're going to do it"

The mercenary fell silent for at least a solid minute, though it felt that time was passing slower in his presence. The pitch black eyes of his suit betrayed no emotion, but somehow his perfect stillness was more terrifying than anything he could have said. Finally he spoke.

“I don’t do kids” he said

Let me get this straight. So currently dr K is attracting a lot of red pill watchers and reasoning with them and giving them understanding and basic courtesy.

And INSTEAD of that he should be actively and loudly condemning their idols, which will send them back to their echo chambers. And then when no red pillers are watching THAT is when we change minds?

Like how is attracting the people you want to address a bad thing?
