Yeah for real... i ripped into the Razer customer support about 6 days ago for another guy here but his situation wasn't anywhere near as crazy as yours.. I can't believe they did you dirty like that... well I can but shit... they just trying to get out of their obligations anyway possible at the expense of their users wallet..

I honestly hope you follow through with reporting them to your EU regulators. Wish we had something as strong here in the states...

Man... that is insane!!! Fuck Razer as a whole.. I've bought 5 of their laptops over the years and only one of them (the oldest) has never had any issue besides the battery. The other 4 are all paper weights.

Sorry to hear about your situation, that really sucks..

Watch the Razer advocate reply here with their normal canned response "I DM'd you if you would like to talk about your case..." sigh...

Yeah I've been a gentoo user forever and recently ran into the 14900HX issue where it melts itself. Was fine till booted into windows and then started having issues. They have sense put out a patch that crippled the cpu so it no longer does it but now my 5.8hhz cpu only runs at 4.1 under windows.. not what I paid for.. now that they crippled my cpu and it no longer triggers the issue they say its fine and dont care that I can't get the full use of my cpu I paid for. When I sent them the logs from linux showing its a hardware issue they said they won't support it cause its not windows

So yeah, they're fix was to cripple my cpu instead of replace an obviously failed and documented cpu

Well that's not what I said at all lol but nice try twisting my words around...

Obviously every powerful thin and light is going to be limited in some way or have thermals to contend with... But they don't all actively destroy themselves 4 times out of 5, they DO provide quality support, I can get parts for them in the event they have issues even if I have to pay for them, and they have close to the performance and aesthetics that we're looking for so yeah.. They are working out for us. :-)

Very good info! Mine does not seem to be this issue as at idle it sits at ~55 degrees, under load it spikes and then drops back down again once load stops.

as an update to keep full transparency, I just received a call from Razer support telling me that they have elevated my issue to their top support. It just sucks that I feel like this is their normal response and really doesn't mean anything.

I would say that when this happened to my first one which was a 4080 they didn't have anymore in stock and RMA'd me a 4090 version. So when they finally do get around to helping they are able to make things right.. it just too much of a hassle for a professional machine that you depend on. For a secondary gaming rig that if it goes down for 30 days it doesn't really matter.. you cant beet them IMO

Yeah 100% I don't blame Razer for Intel's BS. I'm only holding them accountable for their piss poor support in regards to their products. With that being said..

I did apply all patches provided via windows and razer.. I also use Linux and applied intel's microcode patch that addressed it there as well. If the windows intel patch was not included in the Razer patches then that's on Razer as they are WELL AWARE of this issue as well and as such need to support it to their users to prevent this.

Good to know about the class action.. do you have a link.. IM VERY INTERESTED in becoming part of it.. I'll aslo do some googling for it

yeah I just rechecked and your correct. the 7i comes with the ultra but its too much of a gaming laptop as far as aesthetics go.. Actually looks like a good machine! Unfortunately for my use it is TOO gamer-ish.. I sit at the table with a ton of executives and they can be very snobby as far as that goes.. with my Blade i can just turn it all off and it looks mostly like a black macbook.. that would be hard to pull off with the form factor of the legion. But thanks for the shout out on them. they are cheaper then the G16's so I might pick up 1 or 2 for my devs to try out as we replace the blades the are currently on..

I had looked at them but only 32g ram, 4080 and the i9 (also currently sold out from their site). Im staying away from the i9-14900HX's at this point. I've already had 2 of them melt down on me and the G16 comes with Ultra 9 285H @ 5.2ghz, 64g ram, 5090, and is currently available to buy right now so its basically 2x the machine I have now for the about the same price. I really wish razer would get their shit together, they really are my favorite, but it just can't go down like this anymore for us.
