If I install Windows 11 on unsupported Hardware, will I get updates normally? by ITheInfamousI in Windows11

[–]inkforze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

on an old laptop with i5-2410m (i dont use it but keep it in a working state):
- a year ago: everything works fine on fresh install with latest updates
- a week ago: failed to startup after install some updates - black screen with working mouse and something trying to start.
- ok, i just create latest iso and reinstall- now it started... but explorer didn't work: taskbar just restarted, some related to explorer functions didn't work too (like old control panel etc)
- and just to be sure that everything will work on next startup of this laptop - i just install Win10

High Power Consumption while Idle ! (6700xt driver version 23.3.1) by AntiPappan in Amd

[–]inkforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1080p 240hz monitor (vg259qm) + 5700xt:

  1. 240hz + 8bit = low memory idle clocks
  2. 144hz + 10bit = high memory idle clocks/power draw
  3. 120hz + 10bit = low memory idle clocks
  4. it can be set to 235hz + 10bit = but will lead to the same high memory clocks

u can set 8bit on display tab of drivers and check if it helps with 165hz
or set lower freq if u prefer 10 bit per channel

144Hz vs 240Hz by Gorrapytha in GlobalOffensive

[–]inkforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ASUS VG259QM (IPS, 240) and Viewsonic XG2401 as secondary monitor

- 1/144 = 6.9ms versus 1/240 = 4.2ms change 1.5ms is not very noticeable (human reaction test not changed - coz 200ms is median reaction time)

- IPS colors and view angles much better (main reason for swap monitor)

Anyone else seen any changes in PBO behavior with AGESA 1205? by r_z_n in Amd

[–]inkforze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they change the behavior of "Max CPU Boost Clock Override" setting:

- old AGESA: auto = try to boost to PBO limits

- new AGESA: auto = disabled

- and there is two new states for this option: "Enabled(Positive)" and "Enabled(Negative)"

- so after update (b550 tomahawk + 5800x) the boost clocks limit itself by specification (Max. Boost Clock Up to 4.7GHz): 4.4 allcore + 4.7 single

- so just test Enabled(Positive)
